Too many people try to outsmart the legislation
HR 25, when in fact, this has been the most researched piece of
legislation in the history of our government! Over $22 million has been
spent in picking it apart, yet so many of those in a position
to investigate it (THE MEDIA), have failed to even read the 131 pages
of the Bill. We are constantly getting on our legislators about not
reading the Bills, but it is up to us, The American People, to know and
understand the issues. This is a non partisan issue. . . . We all pay
taxes! When Uncle Sam takes your money out of your paycheck, I doubt he
really care whether or not you are a Democrat, Republican, Liberal,
Conservative, Black, or White. To him, we are all GREEN! There are so
many avenues out there to research for yourself. First there is www.fairtax.org,
where you can have all your question answered. Next there are 3 books
written on the subject; THE FAIR TAX BOOK, FAIR TAX: THE TRUTH, and THE
FAIR TAX SOLUTION. When I first got involved I started in this exact
order. Each of the above mentioned references will lead you to the next
and at some point in your research, you too will be convinced that this
is the Fairest and Simplest way to collect the revenues needed to
operate our Country. It comes down to YOU, the American Citizen. Do you
want to continue to be subjected to the strong arm tactics of the
Government and allow them to tax our productivity, or do you feel that
you are in a better position of determining how you should spend your
money. We cannot continue as a nation of Free People to allow the
government to impose their will on us in this manner. We didn't tolerate
it in 1776 and we will not tolerate it now. Please, for the love of God
and our Country, educate yourself and join the ranks of millions across
this country who support the Fair Tax Act HR25.
I apologize for just using a cut & paste from the other Discussion by Gary....but the response would be quite the same anyway.
Glad to hear from you.
I definately think the FAIR TAX IS gaining momentum;
BUT I'm not sure that "working together" is the answer either. Now, don't get me wrong....Cooperation and sharing of ideas, etc is always beneficial. But, working together (to me) implies doing the "same things" in the same locales. Each of us face different obstacles in getting support for the FAIR TAX....and so, I would be the first to say that .....what works for me, may not work for you in your District or....?
Instead, let's share ideas!!!
I, for one, have found that most supporters are not following this website and/or contributing as I think they should be.
Additionally, I believe there are a number of common MISCONCEPTIONS our opponents have repeatedly made ....that we do not seem to combat forcefully enough!
I see interview after interview where advocates have NOT mentioned the following important points!!
Example 1: the common opposition that the Fair Tax does not "guarantee" a repeal of the 16th !! We need to SPECIFICALLY address this, not just say we must wait for a repeal of the 16th to be ratified. People don't trust that approach! We MUST not let them think we will have BOTH Income & NST !!
Example 2: a better explanation of the "PREBATE"; unfortunately many Americans (especially kids & seniors) can't follow the math that well.....it often is explained poorly and comes out sounding like just another "entitlement" check.
You know, "just more spending".... We need to do better.
Example 3: most folks still don't understand the HUGE impact this will have on businesses and the re-investment of businesses back here in the U.S. once again....thereby bringing more jobs back!! This is one of (if not the biggest) JOBS plan which can be introduced....and too few polticians have used it as a specific for their platforms!.....Tis a shame! Lowering of business expense and the ability for the Free Market to play out will also LOWER PRICES....is a spin-off of this as well.
Example 4: AND THIS IS PROBABLY THE BIGGEST ONE !!!!
Few have pushed the fact that this Bill would bring greater "Fairness" in the sense of its EXPANDED TAX BASE!!! Just think of illegals, criminals, tax dodgers & others of all sorts
now PAYING THEIR SHARE !!?? We need to use this pure and simple fact MORE! We need to point more to the fact that fewer than 50% of Americans are Taxpayers!!
(Between loopholes, exemptions, and other non-filers)
YES, we all know these things.....but I don't believe the public is getting them very well!
THAT'S WHERE AND WHAT WE SHOULD EMPHASIZE FOR 2011 !!!!
We know we should certainly get more Congressional sponsors....that's a NO-Brainer!!
I LOVE the Fairtax as is and want to see it enacted ASAP. However, there are 2 (and ONLY 2) exemptions I would like to see.
My wife is disabled and takes several expensive prescription medications. The Prebate for both of us will not cover the Fairtax on these meds with nothing left for other expenses. Exempt PRESCRIPTION meds and we're fine.
The other is also medical. I see no problem with the Fairtax on Dr office visits, tests, and examinations. Even most ELECTIVE procedures should be taxed. I have a problem with taxing services required to save life or limb due to disease or accident. These can quickl;y and easily run into 100's of 1,000's of dollars.
Therefore, exempt prescription meds and life saving medical procedures and it's nearly perfect. That's my opinion and it ought to be yours. Mark.
I would respectfully disagree with you on the exemptions for prescriptions and certain medical procedures. A pharmacy is no different than any other business. First of all, you would be receiving your entire paycheck and be receiving a prebate check each month to cover any taxes up to the poverty line. Next, let's start out with the pharmaceutical company. They pay no corporate taxes, no capital gains tax, and don't have the overhead of filing and accounting costs incurred as they do now. This means that their cost for their medications will probably stay the same or be lower than they are now. As far as medical procedures, what is the difference now, when in fact the bill already contains that embedded tax we were speaking about before. You have to realize that Dr.'s and Hospitals currently include the taxes they have to pay on their employees payroll, and income, so again the price would generally stay the same. Insurance would also be paying for the majority of the bill, only with the Fair Tax, you would have more money in your pocket at each payday.
Do you as an individual pay all the costs for all medical services, procedures, medications, etc. or do you have some form of medical insurance that pays for these costs?
If there is any health or disability insurance, medicare or medicaid coverages, these are business to business transactions and are not subject to the FairTax! Your co-payments and deductibles are the only parts that would be subject to the FairTax.
@Ron - Regardless whether it is a single individual or a company, the tax would apply the same. Again, you have to remember that insurance is already being taxed! It is just that we don't see it. The insurance premium already is computed with the payroll tax and income taxes included, . . . as any other business. The key behind this is that there are no exemptions. That has been the problem for too long. The next thing that happens is the lobbyists come in and pay off the politicians. The Fair Tax Act eliminates that and brings greater transparency to our government.
