What if the only tax you pay the federal government

is one you don’t have to calculate or report?

Only the FairTax:

  • treats everyone the same
  • let’s you keep your entire paycheck
  • pays you your taxes if you’re poor
  • doesn’t know whether you’re poor or rich
  • eliminates the IRS and 72,000 pages of tax code
  • costs the government less than 1% to collect
  • brings jobs back to the U.S.

Important FairTax Information for New Jersey Primary Voters for the Sixth Congressional District of New Jersey

To the voters in the Sixth Congressional District of New Jersey,

The Primary Election will take place in New Jersey on Tuesday, June 5, 2012. We have valuable information for you about where the U.S. Congressional candidates from the Sixth Congressional District of New Jersey stand on the FairTax. Your district is the Northern Jersey Shore and inland.

On the Republican side we have:

Anna Little, http://www.annalittleforcongress.com.  Anna Little is a supporter of the FairTax and has pledged to co-sponsor the FairTax if elected to Congress.  Anna Little has specifically included the FairTax in her web site, and she has traveled outside her district during her campaign for the special purpose of speaking at a FairTax rally.

Ernesto Cullari, http://www.cullariforcongress.com.  Ernesto Cullari has stated that he is a supporter of the FairTax.  Cullari has not mentioned the FairTax in his web site.

On the Democratic side we have:

Frank Pallone, http://www.pallonefornewjersey.com.  Pallone has stated that he prefers a progressive income tax over the FairTax.  Pallone has no opposition in the Democratic primary.

We do not know of any independent or minor party candidates, but those candidates, if there will be any, will not be on the primary ballot.

If you are a registered Republican or an unaffiliated voter, you can vote in the Republican primary. If you are a registered Democrat, it is too late for you to change your affiliation to vote in the Republican primary, where thre is a contest. That deadline was 55 days before the primary election. You can un-affiliate or re-affiliate, if you wish, now or after the primary election in time for the next primary election.

If you have not registered to vote, you need to do so for the next election. To vote, you must be a US citizen, 18 years or older by the time of the election, a resident of your county for 30 days and not disqualified. You must register no later than 21 days before the next election. You can register, among other places, with your municipal or county clerk.

We hope this information will help you in exercising your most important right as an American citizen.

Best wishes, John J. O'Rourke Volunteer FairTax State Director 732-458-9271 732-814-7875 jorourke468@comcast.net

Re: Important FairTax Information for New Jersey Primary Voters for US Senate

Dear New Jersey Voters,

The Primary Election will take place in New Jersey on Tuesday, June 5, 2012. We have valuable information for you about where the U.S. Senate candidates from New Jersey stand on the FairTax.

On the Republican side we have:

Joe Rullo, www.rulloforsenate.com, who is an unconditional FairTax supporter. Joe Rullo has pledged to co-sponsor the FairTax if elected to the Senate. Joe Rullo's web site reflects that position. Joe Rullo has pledged to run for only one term and contends that this pledge will keep him from bowing to pressure from the leadership and to the pressures of reelection. Joe Rullo believes that he then would be free to be an independent voice and co-sponsor the FairTax.

Bader Qarmout, www.bgq4nj.com, who has said he is open to the FairTax or the Flat Tax, but has not committed to the FairTax.

Joe Kyrillos, www.joekyrillos.com, who has been briefed but has not committed to the FairTax.

David Douglas Brown (no web site). We have reached out but have had no contact with this campaign.

On the Democratic side we have:

Robert Menendez, www.menendezfornj.com. Menendez' staff has been briefed, but Menendez has not committed to the FairTax.  Menendez has stated that he prefers a progrssive income tax.  Menendez has no opposition in the Democratic Party primary.

We do not know the positions of the minor party and unaffiliated candidates, but they will not be on the primary ballot.

If you are a registered Republican or an unaffiliated voter, you can vote in the Republican primary. If you are a registered Democrat, it is too late for you to change your affiliation to vote in the Republican primary. That deadline was 55 days before the primary election. You can un-affiliate or re-affiliate, if you wish, now or after the primary election in time for the next primary election.

New Jersey FairTax-ers,

This summary of the appearance of Congressman Jon Runyan, NJ-03, on the radio program, "Ask the Congressman," highlights why Congress needs to feel heat from its constituents about the FairTax.

----------------------

Congressman Jon Runyan, NJ-03, appeared on his monthly show, Ask the Congressman, on May 2, 2012, hosted by Tom Mongelli on WOBM, Toms River, NJ.

After a brief introduction, the Mongelli took a call from John (O'Rourke) from Brick, whom Mongelli acknowledged had been on the program and was the most active FairTax proponent from that part of New Jersey.

O'Rourke repeated the request to the Congressman that he become a cosponsor of the FairTax. O'Rourke expressed a concern that any kind of tax reform that would take place during a lame duck session of Congress would come from congress members who have been voted out. The result will be something that nobody likes and amount to just tinkering with an obsolete system.

O'Rourke stated that was at the Congressman's office in Toms River earlier that day with the FairTax bill, which was only 133 pages long.

Runyan responded (to our complete surprise since he has been briefed) that he had questions about the leadership behind the bill, as well as questions that haven't been answered. The Congressman did not say what his questions were but moved away from the FairTax to talk about the lame duck.

O'Rourke brought the Congressman back to the FairTax and started to pin him down on what so-called questions he may have had. O'Rourke reminded the Congressman that we would like to sit down with him again. O'Rourke also pointed out that sponsor, Rob Woodall, is in the same Longworth Office Building, and that it seems odd that he can't answer the questions.

The Congressman stated that the "biggest part" is totally reforming the system. Runyan asked rhetorically, "What shock does that do?" Runyan referred a conversation in his office with an unnamed new car dealer about it. Runyan stated that if we implement "something like that, " everybody will buy something that’s used, and who will buy new car? Runyan claimed he received no answer to that question. (He did in fact, in a briefing.)

Runyan said we would eliminate IRS, and there would be no tax lawyers. "I get that," he said, but what happens to those people? He heard the answer that they are educated, and they can find other work, but they are now running small business. "What happens to 50 or 60 people they employ?" asked Runyan rhetorically. (He did receive an answer to that question in a briefing.)

The Congressman stated that, in the latest Republican budget there is tax reform in there, personal corporate, and eliminate loopholes. Before O'Rourke could respond, O'Rourke was cut off, and the Congressman drifted off into a discussion about there being no "appetite" where we are now for change.

I met with State Senator Joe Kyrillos today to brief him on the FairTax. Kyrillos is the presumptive Republican nominee for United States Senate from New Jersey and is expected to oppose incumbent Senator Robert Menendez in November. Our practice is not to discuss the details of the briefing because we want to encourage candidates to receive briefings. The atmosphere was good, and there is a reasonable likelihood that the candidate will meet again.

FairTax does not support or oppose candidates.  We briefed the Menendez staff last February.

We will keep you posted.

Dear Dick,
I would like to commend you on today's fair treatment and analysis, in your noontime blog at www.dickmorris.com, of Herman Cain's 9-9-9 plan. As a FairTax-er, I am numb to hearing just the opposite, and I was pleasantly surprised by your degree of objectivity.

Your point about the need for vigilance to assure that the plan remains 9-9-9 is one that is widely shared. As you know, Herman Cain sees the 9-9-9 plan as a passageway to the FairTax, which is the gold standard of tax reform. Should 9-9-9 be realized, it would be important not to declare victory and unilaterally disarm in the tax-reform war.

Best wishes,
~Jim

We had a FairTax stant (see attached photo Summit%20Street%20Fair%2010-2011.jpg) at the Summit Street Fair on Sunday, October 9, 2011. John Daley, Tom Sulcer, John Burchill and I were the FairTax team that day.

The weather was ideal, reaching the '80's.

Activity was brisk. We had pages downloaded from the leaders page of fairtax.org and made them into standing displays.  We handed out about 100 pocket cards and 75-80 revised two-page pieces containing more information than can be squeezed onto a pocket card. We got several people to sign up, assuring them that we do not sell the list. They will begin receiving their own copies of our e-newsletter, FairTax Friday. Many came to the stand, and discussion was animated but, in most cases, concluded in our favor.

The organizer of street fairs in Northern New Jersey, Darryl Walker, came to our stand and suggested several FairTax and non-FairTax reforms.

We look forward to repeating this performance in the Spring.
