You are correct, the FairTax is federal only. The FairTax book is a good read as is the 2nd book, FairTax: The Truth. There is also lots of good info at the website, FairTax.org i.e. the FairTax talking points, the congressional scorecard, the FairTax calculator etc. I carry several copies of the talking points with me when I travel, leave them in the seat pockets on airplanes, chairs in the gate areas, pass them on to people I meet during the day. We need this tax reform and with all that has happened the last few months I think people are ready for "real" reform.

The fair tax is for federal, ie: no more IRS. I believe the local is seperate as the Fed does not control the states at state levels. You should really read the book ( the first one ) Fair Tax it explains everything and even I could understand it. It was a fairly quick read too ;)

I have a question in regards to state sales and income taxes- would these still be in place?

I'm really looking forward to using the Fair Tax to tell Washington D.C. that it is WE THE PEOPLE and NOT we the government. They work for us, not the other way around. We really have an uphill battle because the Fair Tax will take away the politicians' power source. So we need to make sure they don't keep finding ways to increase the percentages after the Fair Tax goes into effect. They need to work on a budget just like families and businesses all across this great country.

Jim - I'm willing to attempt, assist in, the cordination of Hamilton County efforts. I'm not a political mover and shaker, nor am I a internet expert but, I'm willing to try and learn. I'll also be ready to step aside and be support to a more qualified individual when they step to the plate.
