Thanks Billie, I plan on going to the FairTax meeting tonight down in Cincy @ 7PM; I appreciate the address & meeting info!
    Justin
  • Teresa J. Geron

    It also starts at 5pm.
I would love a Columbus group. We need it. If ever there was a time for the FairTax to become a Universal movement it is now. As long as there's MAJOR turnover in the House & Senate by 2012 it could pass. We should use the current disgust of the People to capitalize on this. Otherwise it's back to complacency.
I'm eager to work with you!
I ordered a No IRS/Fair Tax bumper sticker and stuck it to magnets before putting it on my car ( I hate sticky bumper stickers) and we need MASS marketing literature to pass out. I actually saw a FairTax yard sign the other day!
This movement needs MASSIVE VISUALIZATION OVERLOAD to work.
  • Teresa J. Geron

I joined the Columbus Group! I will be in North Carolina next week and travelling here & there throughout the Spring (can't wait to take my FairTax bumper across the country!!!). Waiting to here when & where we all can meet.
  • Steve Curtis

You're doing a great job. Keeping everyone informed, getting new members excited, and keeping me in line. Maybe we need to stop calling you Billie, and give you the "Superwoman" moniker. I'll let you know how Medina goes.

    Hi Billie in Beavercreek,
I just saw your message from Mar 9. I am still learning my way around this website. The more I come here, the better it gets. What a great idea - a group here for Columbus people. I know there are many here, but no one knows anyone. This will make it much easier to bring the group together...like a "real" group. Anyways, I joined up. Bad news is, I will be out of the state on April 15. Usually I hang out at the main post office on twin-rivers dr. wearing my t-shirt and displaying my big home-made sign that says "There's a better way" with the fairtax website below. I get many positive gestures, thumbs up, horn honking, etc. it's great. Even though I will be traveling, I do have my bumper sticker proudly on display on my car. talk to you later.

Thanks for joining Billie! Feel free to post any links to active articles in the discussions section of the FTIC homepage.

I will try to make that Billie. It's been a bit of a challenge these last few months with hubby gone in Iraq. He'll be home in May and my time will be easier to manage. Still, I will try to make it. : )

I am going to try and make it. Been a very busy year so far. Doing some remodeling at home and changing ownership of the business. I hope to see you all Thursday.

Thank you Billie, I'm excited about where we're going with this, and so far the people I know I can count on being there are really showing good energy.

Thanks again. I'll look into groups for sure. I believe that when people can act together it builds confidence and the better we communicate the harder it is for others to mislead us.

    Hi!
Sorry I didn't make it last night to the meeting, had 3 events going last night so it was not a good night! I meant to email Barb ahead of time to let her know. Thanks for the update.
  • Nancy L. Gatchel

    Hi, Billie!

Meeting was very small but I view it as a success and a learning experience. I have much more to do. Please see Dave Sibole's page for complete report. Thank you so much for your support. Before I found FTN, I was just wandering around out here in the dark. Now I've got mentors and support. I can't tell you how much help I've received here! It's terrific!

The most important thing I learned is that I've got my work cut out for me, but now I've got two more partners which is two more than what I had.
  • Nancy L. Gatchel

Hey, Billie, where's the closest meeting to Xenia? I want to refer my uncle. He came to my meeting last night.
  • Nancy L. Gatchel

Not yet. He's a flat tax proponent but I don't think he quite knows just what the flat tax will and won't do. Now he's curious and fascinated by the Fair Tax. I didn't get him completely sold last night, but I know you guys can finish it up! Is Beaver Creek close to Xenia? I'm thinking it is.
  • Philip A. Reed

Hello Billie, thanks for the info! I'd like to attend, but there is a conflict w/work schedule.
  • Nancy L. Gatchel

    Thanx, Billie
I forwarded your message about when and where your meeting is, to my uncle. I've definitely got his attention.
I will need help with the petition thing. Might be Monday before I can call. Busy week end.

    Billie,
Thank you for suggesting Kate for the Columbus Tea Party! She accepted and now I'm working out the details. It was a pleasure seeing you again at Barbara's. I'm sure she told you all about our trip. Though it was a quick trip, the company was interesting and enjoyable. I slept with the dogs at one point! Ah, the things we do for the Fair Tax; it'll pay off, of that I'm sure.

Thanks for the invite. I've been pushing this for a while but didn't know there was a group close by. I've been signing petitions for the fair tax on the internet. I'm excited and I will get more to join in the following days. I listen to Neal Boortz daily and I believe this is our answer to alot of our problems. Thanks again

My interest in FairTax was developed after I read a letter from a FairTax member in the WSJ regarding Cap-and-Trade and global warming. You might say I am obsessed with exposing the global warming pseudo-science as a fraud. I have seen only a little interest on the part of FairTax to stop Cap-and-Tax. As a near term goal I believe Cap-and-Tax defeat is a more achievable and urgent issue than a national sales tax. Perhaps this would be viewed as a distraction from the main goals of FairTax - if so I apologize. If there is interest in the Ohio and Cincinnati groups in stopping C&T I would be happy to join.

We're not calling it that, but yes, we are. It will be held tonight at the American Legion (8th & Wooster Sts.) in Marietta, 7-8:30. Charlie Wilson, Zack Space, George Voinovich and Sherrod Brown all received invitations by registered mail. None have said they'll be there, but we've got several other panel members who are very well-equipped to answer questions, and since they're not politicians, they'll actually give people the truth.

I just picked this up from another site. I did not check out the link, but I think it should be icausa.net. Pass it on.

I am on the Board of Directors at http://ciausa.net and we have decided to offer our FAX services to the conservative community at no cost. We have opened up the site's on-line store and FAX CENTER to the public. It is not necessary to be a member of Citizens in Action, however, if you should so decide please join us. If you have any friends in Maine or Vermont please feel free to forward this message to them. We don't have any people faxing the government from there. In fact if you have conservative friends anywhere please forward this message of welcome and our offer of FREE FAX'es to them.

Today when I went to see a movie, which many Americans do on holiday weekends, the ticket taker said “Happy 4th of July”. I gently corrected him and said “Happy Independence Day”. That got me to reflecting, why is it that so many of our most sacred holidays are reduced to trite expressions? Christmas is now Happy Holiday or Happy Xmas, Thanksgiving is Happy Turkey Day and Memorial Day is now Happy Start of Summer.

Independence Day is what the true name is of what is more commonly known as 4th of July. Most people in America are content to celebrate by shooting off fireworks, going to barbecue's, movies, or shopping. All fine activities, however, this lackadaisical attitude is part of the atmosphere of malaise that will soon have us celebrating, if we are able to do so freely or at all, just the memory of Independence Day.

Samuel Adams said “It does not take a majority to prevail... but rather an irate, tireless minority, keen on setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of men.” People say “I'm too busy with kids, work, bills, life in general.” I say why can we not, in these days of relative ease and comfort, of air conditioned everything, 24 hour fast food, free libraries, cable TV and Michael Jackson video re runs, do something to support the cause of freedom and liberty?

Freedom isn't free and the price paid has been and will continue to be steep. My challenge to all of us reading this is to do more to keep those brushfires of freedom burning before the next Independence Day. Be an informed American: vote, call/fax/email/write your representative when they dare do anything that encroaches upon your freedoms. If you have the ability, run for office, even if it is your local city council or state office. Finally do not let those we put into office rest until they uphold the Constitution and support freedom and liberty for all Americans.
