We met at the FairTax event at the Von Dusen Center last September. I have been working on our new website www.fairtaxmn.org. One of these first days add some photos including a couple of you to the Events page. Glad to get connected again.
Any information on that Fairtax meeting in Hallie yet? I heard it is going to be at the coffee shop across from Wal-mart at 6 PM on Feb. 3rd. Can you please confirm this for me. Maybe put it in the Wisconsin Fairtax Group so that others can see it. I will be checking that group often for any local Fairtax event info and others might do the same.
Thanks and have a great day.
Yeah Bob, I hope that we can met more folks like us too. It is encouraging to know that there is someone else out there who is of a like mind. Jessica and I went up to Exeland to pick up a processed steer and found the family there to think along the same lines as us. All we can do is keep trying to spread the word. They had never heard of the FairTax, now they have and liked the idea.
It was great to meet you last night. I would have liked to have been able to talk to you a little more, but I was actually on my dinner break and had to get back to work. I looked at the Chippewa Valley Fairtax website a little more this morning and realized that it must be the site that you post most of your info for events and other Fairtax issues. I will check there for future meetings and events.
Rep Ron Kind's Tax LA is Erik Olson -- erik.olson@mail.house.gov
Office: 202-225-5506
Congress Switchboard: 202-224(5)-3121
To find out who the person was I needed to talk to, all I did was ask this question to the office receptionist:
"HI I'm (your name) and I'm with Americans For Fair Taxation. I would like to talk to the staff member who deals with tax issues and policies."
Or words to that affect. Be sure to state your group affiliation (AFFT) because people who call attached to a group weigh more to them than just unaffiliated people calling. Groups have numbers behind them whereas single people don't.
I will make the email I sent to the LAs available so you can see what I'm doing to address issues of fairness and inequity in the current tax system which we can get universal agreement on THEN propose tangible solutions that can inch them (psychologically) to the Fair Tax.
Try to get as many people as you can who live in your district to call, email, write, fax Rep Kind, and cite their address and phone to prove they are in the district. Constituents are the MOST important people we can get to contact the individual members, because these are people who can vote them in/out of office.
Bob
I get a person that will print off some 3 fold info for the meeting in Apr. All I need to do is buy a ream of paper. So I guess I need to know what you want on them.
Jerry
Dear Bob, I was not sure my reply to you went through so I'm sending you another. Anything I write about the FairTax is yours to use as you see fit. It's important that everyone understand the real, petty and entirely human reasons that Washington is against the FairTax.
Get ready for more distortions and attacks out of DC when our ads in Investor's Business Daily--beginning March 9--start driving this small circle of tax profiteers up the wall. I will also stop pulling punches when it comes to groups like Americans for Tax Reform who refuse to help solve all the problems with the income tax system. They seem to want to always have some things to rail against because... well, because it's a living. Ken
A co worker mentioned it to me on Tuesday I believe. I think he was spotted Monday night last week. I drove by today on business 53 and saw an individual sitting by the fire hydrant at the moldy s entrance to walmart. Wearing a statue of liberty outfit and holding a sign. I was not close enough to read the sign. I honked and waved regardless. If I see him again I will stop and chat him up. I really like the idea of the costume it is an effective form of visual rhetoric. Maybe we should do some costumes on 04/15 as attention getter;s.
Bob I don't know if you sent out any email about the meeting tonight, but I did not receive anything. Also an email was sent about funding for advertisements to run in April. I did not receive that mail either. A coworker shared this info with me, where do I donate. Sorry I cannot make the meeting tonight I have girl scouts. I would like to participate in the post office push however.
Hi Bob. Do you have any others from Chippewa that want to stand in front of the Post Office? I grabbed some of the cards at the last meeting that I can hand out and a yard sign that I can tape to a table. I was trying to pull some stuff off of the Fairtax.org site to make some flyers that I can hand out if I run out of cards, but couldn't find anything good. If you have something you can e-mail me I can print it off at home. If not I will create my own this weekend. Thanks and have a great day.
Yeah, I think you're right. I found several more registrations that specified Minnesota. We did pretty well yesterday. 130 registered on the spot and probably twice as many took cards to fill out later.
Hello Bob...Wisconsin has the same problem as WA state "no co-sponsors in DC". I just wanted to add to your discussion on the "What Can I Do" packets. GREAT IDEA...but instead of the "petitions" you should use the FairTax On-Line petitions because then you can bring them home SIGN them up and join them to your State and Local group. If I am not mistaken the petition I am talking about is at the bottom on the main page where the Tri-Folds are. Where the PDF files are that people are sharing.
LOVE BEING HERE TO SHARE & GET IDEAS!!! Keep up the good work!!
Hello Bob, Thanks for the idea about the Initiation packets...I've been mulling it over and am getting ready to put together our "Informer Packets" with hopes to distribute some tomorrow. Once they are complete I will let you know what I put them. I think so many DO want to help, just feel they have a limited amount of time or money.
Goooo FairTax!!!
