Steve I was happy to see that you are willing to take the State Director's job. We will help you in any way we can. I seriously don't think we can move forward the way we want without someone at the helm.
I second Dave's comment. Thanks Steve!
The "official" list of OH leadership is posted on the OHio group on this site http://fairtaxnation.ning.com/group/ohiofairtax
The problem is the list is years out of date. I will check to make sure you are an admisitratior on the group so you can updade the OH leadership list on the site.
I will check the CAs I have for OH and send you a list of the leaders I have listed to your regular email address. I sent you a list of all the past leaders I could find from OH and sent you that list, but I don't remember where I sent it so I will send that to your regualr email address also.
I have made you an administrator on the OH group so you can update your leadership directly on the site. If you want someone else from the group to help edit the list, just let me know and I will make them an administrator also -- but they must be a member of the OH group.
Barb is a better one to ask about know active Ohio members I think. I think my list is pretty limited. She has been active in all the Dayton area groups plus has participated in more events and is a better record keeper. I have had limited response from the lists Marilyn sent me. Barb's knowledge is from personal contact.
As to the color on the site, below your picture on the left is a line that says change my photo or theme. Click the theme and it gives you a lot of options I just kept playing with different ones til I find one i liked.
When we get set up on the Convio system, that will be very easy to do as I understand the system now. The problem is you may get tagged as a spammer and your email may not get through.
You may want to try a service such as Constant Contact which has a 60 day free trial -- but it only lets you send out 100 email at a time. It may be worth giving is a try. It will report how many of your email addresses are bad and how many people actually open your email.

Steve,
In one of your posts you inquired about setting up a 501(c)(6). Some of this you may already know but I am not sure so forgive me if you don't find this helpful.
The first step is to setup a non-profit corporation. you can check out legal zoom http://www.legalzoom.com/non-profits/non-profits-pricing.html for information on how to do this. The cheapest package is 139.00. Plus 79 to get a federal tax ID. You will need this ID to setup bank accounts, accept credit cards etc.
The next step is to apply for 501(c)(6) status though the IRS. it doesn't look like legal zoom offers this. There is an application on the IRS website, one website estimated that it would take about 30 hours to complete this form.
http://www.irs.gov/charities/article/0,,id=96122,00.html
Hope this helps.
Hi Steve Gary Clark from Centerville is listed twice how do we fix that? As soon as we hung up last night Dennis Cassel called. I ask him to join FairTax Nation. Jim from Medina has joined; so I told him he does hold a position. You may be hearing from these guys. Billie
Hi Steve I heard from Bob Collins in Centerville. He is too busy at work to do anything right at present; but he wants some handouts to give to his clients and friends. I gave him Barb as a contact person. He says he talks about FairTax.
Steve,
Thanks for signing up to attend this Ohio FairTax HuckPAC house party meeting on 2/26/09 from 7 - 9pm. If you have any questions on how get here just email me at: vote4mikehuckabee@gmail.com
Looking forward to meeting you and the rest of our guest.
I talked with Mrs. Puckett and she said that she will get back to you as soon as possible. Let me know when you are coming so that I can start spreading the word.
Hi Steve, I have not been able to get in touch with Sean & Staci Henderson, James Roach, David Vitko, or Joseph Kunicki so I have removed them from our roster. I just talked to Thomas Shoemaker and he does not have the time to commit to FairTax and requested to be removed. Billie
Steve I joined two websites and this was on We the people:
I'm a singer/songwriter/entertainer in Fort Worth, TX. I've been writing music about "taking back our Country" for the past 3 years. I have about ten of those songs on my page. Please stop by and listen to my newest song I wrote yesterday, "Tea Party Revolution". I'm holding a Rally/Demonstration in Fort Worth, TX on the 27th of February at 3pm till dark. It's called "Tea Party '09". I hope some of you can attend.

Steve, I noticed on your map of DD's that there is no one listed for 7th District. Is Tony no longer a active DD? Also, that map is a great idea.
On another issue. If we are oing to do the post office again, what are we going to use for signs? I have a few, but we could use many more. I'll e-mail Ted and see if I can get the name of the shop that printed them before.
Hi Steve have you checked the front page of FairTax Nation. There is a FairTax song there with Neil Boortz. At least I think I was on the front page. No I did not see or hear the songs on that other site. Billie
Thanks Steve. I wish I could volunteer for the spot, but I know I could not give the FairTax the time it deserves. Hopefully, we'll get someone to step forward that is able to do so.
HI Steve our monthly meeting will be March 9th at the Crossroads Church, 3500 Madison Rd, Cinti at 7 p.m. Please plan to attend and bring a friend. We would appreciate it if you would join the Cinti group so we could send a group announcement instead of individual notices. Thanks Billie in Beavercreek
Okay Steve. I'll contact his office on Monday and start setting the groundwok for a meeting. I'll try to get a couple of dates and let everyone know so we can have a good group to speak to him.
Steve I will be runnning in 2010 for the 2nd district representtive seat of Kansas currently held by Democrat Robert "Bob" Grant and I will be supporting the Fairtax model as the new "state" model for collecting taxes and growing the economy in Kansas.
So the plan is to replace ohfairtax.org with something like mifairtax.org, correct?
It shouldn't be too hard to tweak things. The MI site is using sagepayments to accept donations. Would you want to set up an account with them, or use a different payment method?
Just some preliminary questions... is the OH site up and running yet? How is it hosted?
I hope I didn't do anything inappropriate, but I emailed the Columbus Tea Party and requested permission for a Fair Tax speaker; waiting for their reply.
I also called Rep. Pat Tiberi's office (the only congressman in Ohio that supports the Fair Tax) and asked if he was attending. The staffer said he hadn't been invited yet. I shared this with the tea party as well because Rep. Tiberi believes DC has enough money and it's the spending that's killing us.
Was I out of line? I need all the leadership and guidance I can get. I have to say Barbara Wilson has simply been phenomenal with her support and help. Though she's hours away from me, she's there when I need her.
I feel badly but I'm backing out of the caravan on the 15th because I'm attending the tea party and I have to do some traveling to pick up some other Fair Tax guests. But I really want to do the caravan! We can still do it on another day.
I have yet to receive word back from the tea party but I'm hoping to hear today. I hope I'm not perceived as a party crasher. I believe in what they're doing and the Fair Tax only brings added value to the tea party cause; in other words, we compliment each other nicely, in my opinion.
Received email from Justin Higgins, Columbus Tea Party organizer. He wants a Fair Tax speaker if one can be provided. He supports the Fair Tax 100%. I spoke with Rep. Tiberi's office today and now he has something going that evening. However, the staffer asked my name, number, and email address should that event be cancelled.
What do you think about flooding his office with calls asking if he'll be at the Tea Party? Justin Higgins thinks it would be great.
I still think we need to find another speaker as right now it's looking like Tiberi won't be able. Even if we had the congressman and another speaker, I'm sure that would be fine. I was much encouraged by Justin's email.
Steve I got this email from Nancy Gatchel, any suggestions?
Do you know of anyone that can speak at Columbus Tea Party April 15? It's 6 pm to 7:30 pm. Tea party organizer, Justin Higgins, emailed me a little while ago and said it would be great; he's an ardent supporter of the Fair Tax. We're working on getting Rep. Pat Tiberi, but he may have scheduling conflict. I really provide a speaker for this event if I can. Your help will be greatly appreciated. (as if you don't have enough to do already!)
Thanks, Steve. I did look at the OhioFairTax website. It would be very helpful to have access to the calendar. That way I can post speaking engagements. Do you still want me to post them on FairTax Nation also?
Just wanted to let you know you missed a very good FairTax meeting Wednesday at the Miami Twp Library on Lyons Rd. Bill Sanders came all the way from Lexington, KY to be a part of our meeting. We have so much going on for FairTax we would love for you to be a part of our movement. We will be having another meeting on the second Tuesday (May 12) in Beavercreek at Beef O'Brady's and at the Sharonville Library in Cincinnati. Hope you can join us. Billie in Beavercreek
Steve, has anyone contacted you yet about speaking at a July 4 Tea Party? The Tea Party people are in the planning process. I will probably be in Columbus once again, however, this time I've got a bit more time to prepare so that we can have more FairTaxers and video of FT speaker.
Steve, are you going to the Springfield Parade tomorrow? There will be a lot of people there. I'll see if I can find one that would like to give you a hug. Billie
Thanks for joining us for the parade on Monday and staying for the cookout. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did and I hope it produces some more activist.
Bravo! Never underestimate the power of a few passionate people! Just heard from Robert L. Scott, U.D. law student who set up the Dayton, Ohio Tea Party that we were the 5th largest Tea Party in America on April 15. That caught Sean Hannity's attention and he wants some Ohio Fair Tax speakers to come out and wow the crowd before his Freedom Concert in Cincinnati, Ohio at King's Island on Fri. August 21st. Is Steve Curtis, our Ohio Fair Tax State Director up to the job? We need someone with public speaking training and a color message to stand up for the FairTax and get national attention with those Fox News cameras!
Steve, who has more training and experience than you? Your comments about Toastmasters and your colorful suggestions and expert advice for my July 3 speech, make me think that as Ohio Fair Tax Director, YOU might be the one to represent the State of Ohio with Sean Hannity on Aug. 21 at Kings. Island. If you want me to speak again, I'd be more than happy to, but Kate Burch is pretty fired up too! We need someone who can get the crowd excited for those Fox News cameras and You Tube video. Who do you suggest? Can we get Barbara Wilson ready to speak at this event in about 2 months?
thank you for returning my call .I was having trouble with my passwourd as you can tell Igot-r-done ha ha.soming I have been doing and other can too is when your [rnc or dnc] call for your support tell they we want them to support are fairtax tellthe we are TENs of thousands strong and put it in thier return envelop I have also done this with NRA. more late
met you once at a meeting. About 2 weeks ago, Rahm Emanual stated to the press that He and our President were looking at executive orders to see which ones they could use to get things done. (remember exec. order 11921?)
