    Hi Marilyn,

I sent this message to Sean Fagan, and wanted you to be aware. Carol and I are just now getting back to participation and want to discuss new activities for 2010.

    Mike

    Hi Sean,

I don't think I met you yet, but I have worked with Jim Tomasik and Marilyn Rickert in the past with my wife Carol. We were on the program in the Midwest Rally in Columbia,Mo last year and met Phil Hinson during that event. We were part of many activities last year with FairTax Nation, FairTax.org, and various State groups (NC, Florida, SC, Georgia, and Missouri). We started the Grass Roots Freedom Ride for FairTax that takes place in 2010, which FairTax.org adopted and set up a Convio program to track and promote the involvement for this year's ride.

Unfortunately, a lot of our involvement and activities had to be sidelined in 2009 when we opened the Grass Roots Cafe in Horse Shoe, NC last July (a visible FairTax business model), but Carol and I are now recovering and beginning to pick up the pace on the program.

We will be in DC for the Storm the Hill event, and I would like to talk to you and Phil about working together and participating in the event. I think we add a lot of value and exposure with the FairTax Bike, the Grass Roots Freedom Ride, and other groups we are part of (TEA Party nation, Goooh, Sons of Liberty, etc.).

Are you and/or Phil available for a phone call? I think my ideas and thoughts are best expressed verbally, and would be most efficient rather than just exchanging emails. In any case, I look forward to bringing more excitement and participation in the Storm the Hill event however it works out. This is any exciting time for all of us, with a lot of work to do.

Looking forward to hearing from you,

    Mike McLean
    Director
Grass Roots Freedom Ride for FairTax

    Marilyn,

We work plans have changed, and I will be out-of-town this weekend. I wish I were going to be in town, but since I am not, I will not be able to make the Republican meeting in NOLA.

    In liberty,

    Jim
  • Jeannot Morin

Sure, I really can't go all the way there right now.
  • Judy O'Hare

I was told by a gentleman from Ok that the FT would be added on to the rents that renters pay now, rather than deducting it from what they pay.. The prebate that they get covers those taxes plus the increased spending power that they get with FT.
  • David Kattau

Marilyn, Please offer my contact info to anyone else in my neighborhood. I'm not able to 'cheerlead' as I'd like but can certainly help strategize / mobilize locally if needed.

    Marilyn,

I read the George Will article last week suggesting Conservatives should promote the VAT tax but as a replacement for the income tax. With Obama now opening the door to the VAT, today Medved endorsed that suggestion by promoting the FT. It got several minutes play and some good calls in response.

  • Coni J. Bergan

Thx!! my husband and I are eager to help pleas keep us posted
  • George T. Bloom

Thank you for your message. I attended the Tea Party event at the Nutter Center on April 13th. I walked away energized. It was there I left my info and bought Neal Boortz an John Linder's book. I've listened to Boortz for a long time so the concept was not new. I will be sure to check out the Tea Party events. We must do all we can to "FIX" our country.
  • Ernest G. Tolos

I took a look at the maps for your 'rides'. Yes it is true you do go to the 49 states but you DO NOT stop in each one! e.g., New Hampshire, New Jersey, etc.
  • Ernest G. Tolos

I meant to say the 57 states!
  • Jesse Lee Young

    Thank you Marilyn
  • Mike Brickley

    Mariyn,

I have read Ken Hoagland's book. It really explained more about the FairTax and how it could bring America back to it's roots. I have an idea for Ken. What is the best way to get this idea to him without being lost in the ethers? (i.e. email address)

    Mike
  • Laura McCue

Marilyn, I had to edit my blog post to change the time. Please hurry and re-approve it so I can share it with others.
  • Laura McCue

Marilyn, I am having problems now doing something that I used to do easily. I am unable to share or invite all FT supporters in my district to events or to read blogs like I used to. Can you tell me what the solution is?
  • Laura McCue

Marilyn, I used to be able to post a blog about a FT idea or post an event that supporters could attend and then I could copy and paste my entire email list manually and they would all receive an invitation to "Come join me on FairTax Nation for..." Now I am limited as to how many I can invite to something like 50 people or less. I missed notifying supporter of a meeting tonight because of this. HElp!!!!
  • Mark Crane

    Marilyn;
The videos from fairtaxhub that discuss the fairtax during lunch were (are) GREAT. They should be played on prime time tv. What happened to fairtaxhub.com? That address is now some foreign language promo. Since the Fairtax is non-profit and non-partisen would it not qualify for "public service annoucement" status?
  • Laura McCue

Marilyn, have you heard back from Ning about why we cannot contact more than just a few now to an event or to share a blog? It has been almost a month since I last asked about this. I am so frustrated.
  • Melody Bull

    Marilyn,
Thanks for the welcome. Available and talking it up to friends, business owners and family, email, FB etc. Renew and invigorate our economy. Connecting with local Tea Party Groups. Failure is NOT and option!!!

    Marilyn,
I will!! Watching for false ads in TX. Eagle eye on it;) We need to focus on the benefits to the elderly and education. Teachers and Seniors are serious voters. Willing to bet there will be major attacks from the opposition soliciting these groups with misinformation.

  • Lin Bente

Thank you for the respectful greeting,
The main reason I joined this online discussion is because I have not studied the subject enough. From my understanding so far, I believe to implement the Fair Tax the first step is to change the US Constitution by removing the text of the 16th Amendment. I don't know about you, but for me personally, I need facts that I can read and think about, as well as rational discourse before I decide to support this action.
I would like anyone reading this at this time to note that I am studying the book: "LIBERTARIANISM: A Primer" by David Boaz; and I have a book by Neal Boortz, John Linden about this subject on order.
    Thank You For Your Time

Re: American Policy Summitt- Tea Party Patriots

FairTax Nation listed you as the go to person in the last email from the Nation. I am currently living in Phoenix until April 1 of this year. I am willing to volunteer time in promoting the FairTax and specifically would be willing to work leading up to the summit and during Feb. 25,26,27. Let me know if help is needed or if you are the wrong Marilyn direct me to the right Marilyn if you can.

    Thank You

  • John Hines

Thanks for the warm welcome. I'm looking forward to getting the FairTax passed and implemented.
  • Dameon Huber

Thanks for the Welcome Marilyn! I have just emailed both of my Senators and my Congressman about the new H.R. 25 Fair Tax bill of 2011!
  • Guy R. Smith

Thank you for the welcome Marilyn. I have assumed the position of NC 10th Congressional District Director with NC FairTax. I have been involved with FairTax education for the last 18 months or so and don't know how I've missed this sight.

    Hi Ms Rickert,

Another thank you for the welcome to this site.  I've read you’re numerous articles and blog comments over the past couple years.  Glad to make your acquaintance...  I think we may have bumped into each other in cyberspace over our favorite topic as I frequently joust with the anti-FT folks.

    (example:  http://pajamasmedia.com/blog/author/adakinvalorem/ )

I’m always open to pointers on how to be more convincing in my attempts to lead these minds to the big picture.  If you have any critiques or comments regarding my cyber-rants, please feel free to jump in and correct me.

Thanks for all that you do,

    Adakin Valorem

Our DD had not heard a response from Mark Gupton as of 1:00 PM today to his request.  I have told them I would coordinate the booth if they wanted.

What would be the chances of getting the booth backdrop from AFFT or FTN whoever owns it?  You know the one that was used in DC at CPAC.

  • Torm Howse

Oh, you know it, Marilyn.  Indeed, what you guys are doing is one of the legal plans' seven categories of claims against Congress, i.e., the 4th one - failing to overhaul the IRS with a much-better taxation system.  I'm gonna send you a pm with more.
  • Torm Howse

looking forward. updates done per your request.
  • Larry Wood

What if we were to ask Herman Cain for the rights to modify his 999 movie?  His 999 movie has a lot of good talking points in it for a television ad.  It would make a great television ad if it was modified for the "Fair Tax" and shortened to 60 or even 30 seconds.

  • Larry Wood

    Marilyn,

Thank you for your reply.  Please keep me in the loop.

I am really curious if Herman is open to the idea of us using his movie.

I was a contributor to his campaign and I like the man a lot.

It would be nice to have him help us transition people from 999 to the FairTax.

  • John Lofgren

OK Marylin.   we need to get this on romney's agenda.    this should be a republican priority.

  • brireward@yahoo.colm

I will do as much as I can.  I can PRAY!!  That's the most and I hope eveyone will do more of that too.  Prayer is our ONLY weapon to counter what is happening to us in America right now!

I'm elderly but can email everyone I know (I have lots of addresses).  I need to study on all the details of the tax so I can be more accurate.

I am going to email Santorum and ask that he start pushing it.  I hope the group will endorse him if he does.

Santorum is the only candidate who is completely honest, streadfast, not a flip flopper, moral , intelligent , and experienced having been in the House, Senate and on the Armed Services Commission dealing with foreign nations. There are a lot of attack ads against him telling half truths paid for by Soros and benefitting Paul (Paul is for a weaker military and an isolationist, not ready to defend our nation =so the communist Soros likes that.  However this is called money laundering because it really benefits Romney also and I am sure planned that way.  He says he cannot do anything about these ads but as Newt says "You can tell them to stop"!

Romney is such a liar, and ha  the exact plan  in Mass that Obama is now copying. The healthcare, no conscience clause for religious belief, definite mandate and he gave ILLEGAL permits to gays to be married. He is on the fence about cloning and stem cell research on embryos which is NOT  prolife!  He said in a debate he ruled ultra liberal in Mass "to please my constituents".  So  he is saying he lied to them to be elected gov. and to gov. Once a liar, always a liar---and so I believe he is lieing to us now. He will deny all this but he has proven to be a liar.  He is NOT  a republican nor a conservative.  Once gays can be married -would he then give Mormons the right to  practise polygamy?  Some are doing it now (as muslims do) hiding families in different cities to avoid the law.  They are NOT christians as some think they are.

Many are led astray by him but they are only  "useful idiots".

  • brireward@yahoo.colm

Herman's plan had both the Fair Tax and the Flat Tax.  I don't like the Fair Tax because it still leaves the horrible IRS in place.  AND doesn't do enough to make the illegal (and immoral) businesses pay income taxes.

  • Jim Bennett

    Thanks, Marilyn.

John Burchill and I are on the pin-map in New Jersey. We'll do our best to get more. Are you planning a visit to Graceland when you are in Memphis?

    ~Jim

  • Gregory Koch

    Marilyn,

Right now I am too busy working as the campus coordinator for Gary Johnson to do anything with FairTax on campus. But in November, after the election, I'll consider it. And I'll definitely talk about the FairTax with GJ.

  • Warren Douglas Gentry

    sorry.  i figured it out.
