The who and why...

WHO
I am approaching a much touted, transitional age of 30 years. Happily married to my high school sweetheart (although I didn't know it at that time) and living in Pelham, AL in a very modest yet beautiful home. Been living the life of a professional student. Got my BS in Micro/Molec. Biology from UCF in central FL and am now pursuing my PhD in Biochemistry at UAB. Not sure where the future is gonna take me, but I do know the FairTax will be there when I get there!

WHY
I am disgusted that my tax dollars are being taken by the federal gov't without my permission. I am forced to give over "x" percentage of my hard-earned $, with the "x" being based on how much I make!!!

Let's talk about that little "x". It's an evolutionary number (or letter, in this case) that evolves with each changing federal legislature/executive. The "x" scale slides according to the atmosphere of the current "batch" of officials, but only one thing remains the same - the fact that I pay more when I earn/work/labor more. This makes no sense!!! Just because I have taken paths and made choices that have lead to financial gain should not permit the gov't to penalize me on those successes. And believe you me, it is a penalty - hence the reason for things called "tax shelters".

The FairTax has the potential to revolutionize our entire economy... its parts are multi-faceted but let's focus on my previous thought - tax rates based on income level. The idea that I make more $ generally means I spend more $ (usually with the wife's consent). Under the FairTax (a consumer-based, not income-based tax), I would voluntarily be paying a higher tax when I spend more, but at least in this scenario I will receive something for it, that "thing" I purchased. No longer will I be penalized for making more $, I will be encouraged knowing that my efforts will not be subject to the scrutiny of the current "batch".

I am a strong supporter of this legislation and know that once our message becomes fully integrated into our society, it WILL pass. I am encouraged to make this happen soon, I want it to happen before my kids (not currently in existence as of yet) have to begin paying taxes!!!
