I'm sure the rest of you were like me and were dreading the April 15th deadline for our federal taxes. The only people that weren't in a bad mood that day were probably the bean counters looking for all that money coming in. And...as good citizens I'm sure a vast majority just went along with the system and made sure all of our paperwork was in line and filed properly. Once more...the cycle continues...what if we were to "rock the boat" so to speak?
I'm sure the rest of you were like me and were dreading the April 15th deadline for our federal taxes. The only people that weren't in a bad mood that day were probably the bean counters looking for all that money coming in. And...as good citizens I'm sure a vast majority just went along with the system and made sure all of our paperwork was in line and filed properly. Once more...the cycle continues...what if we were to "rock the boat" so to speak?

Let's look at a possible way to shake things up a bit. If you were to look at your standard deductions you fill out on your W-4...are you really following the correct guidelines? Do you have it set up to where they're pulling out more than what they're supposed to so you get a big return the following year? Or, are you setting them so high that you don't pay through the year but end up paying the next year? I just took a massive pay cut about a month ago, and unfortunately I'm in the middle of bankruptcy proceedings due to a home foreclosure and other things contributed to this economy. I just so happened to look at my current W-4 and realized that I "wasn't following their guidelines." They were taking out too much money. By changing my W-4 to the allowable deductions they say I can take out...it did make up a little bit of difference from the pay cut.

If they don't want to listen to us concerning the Fair Tax bill...I say let's play by "their rules." They say we're allowed to have certain exceptions...so let's make sure we're doing that correctly. Take a long hard look at that W-4 and don't be afraid to put those little 1's in the boxes at the right of the page. Be sure to save every single receipt and taxable deduction so when it comes time for filing...you're still getting something back. Only pay in what you're obligated to pay in, and be sure you take back everything you possibly can at the end of the year. Me, I don't have to worry about getting anything back for the next 5 years because whatever I would be getting back is going straight to the bankruptcy trustee so it really doesn't matter to me much....the less they get the better I feel.

If we can get people to start changing their deductions, someone's going to wake up and realize they're not getting in as much as they thought they were. Maybe this would trigger people to start looking at alternatives to this current tax system. The way I look at it...they're giving us allowable deductions...so use them. If you play your cards right...you'll end up breaking even...and if you have enough to itemize, you'll still be getting something back. Now, be honest...what is it that you really do with that tax refund check when you get it? If you're like pretty much everyone in this country you pay off some of those credit card bills and get them down to more reasonable levels. And what do you do throughout the year...that's right, those balances go right back up. Again...the cycle continues.

I'm all for the Fair Tax...and it looks like there's a couple of states that are pushing legislation through their systems as well. Hell...a few weeks ago there was huge media coverage that Texas wanted to secede from the Union! I don't know about you....but if that didn't wake someone up in Washington, I don't know what will. Until the Fair Tax bill starts to really gain some steam in Washington, let's use the current system to our advantage and keep as much of that money in our pockets as we can.Email to Sen. I've been trying to do my part to express my point-of-view to our "lovely and fair elected officals," but it just doesn't seem to get across. In his recent reply, he stated that he voted against the Bush Administration's bailout plan, but voted Obama's in. Sometimes, I just don't get it. Anyway...here's my latest reply to the Senator. To be honest...I really don't think those people on the Hill really know what kind of damage they're causing to people like you and me.....really makes you…
Sen. Nelson:

Something that I've been trying to figure out for a while now is...with all the spending our Government has passed in recent months...how is that money going to be paid back? Ohh...yes, that's right. It's coming out of my pocket! I totally forgot about that. Since I'm one of the tens of millions of citizens in this country that are considered middle class...the idiotic and insane spending my Government has done falls on my shoulders. That's okay, Senator...let me just work a bit harder...rake in what scarce overtime hours I can pull in and pay off the almost $2 TRILLION dollar debt you and the rest of our lovely elected officals have put us in.

In your recent reply, you stated you voted against the bill that the Bush Administration put forth...that's all fine and good. I'm happy for you...you voted against it. Does that mean you're not at fault? I don't think so, sir. When it comes to this crazy spending our Government is doing, including the spending bill you have voted for...I don't care who voted for what. The finger point is going to each and every one of you.

I'm not puting the blame on any one person or political party...it'everyone's fault. Yours and mine...I'll take the hit on some of it. I'm not afraid to admit I've made some bad choices in the past. I've had to make some tough decisions in order to keep my family afloat.

You see, Senator...it breaks down like this: if you spend more money than you can bring in....that's bad. We're faced with the stock market tanking on a daily basis. Your fellow senators and President Obama pretty much destroyed the business aviation industry with the comments you've been making. That's right...I'm a maintenance inspector for a company in Orlando that does routine maintenance on coporate jets....thanks to you and everyone on the Hill that ridiculed businesses for using their jets as a "business tool." Now, I agree that the CEO's of the auto makers didn't think very clear when they flew to Washington on their jets begging for money...that wasn't very smart of them. But almost 80% of all business jet travel does not have any kind of CEO or top executive on-board. it's technicians, managers, engineers...common folk going to and from the job sites...not some lavish CEO or Vice President throwing his weight around and flying somewhere because he wants to. Because of these types of comments, they're scared to fly their jets to do their business...they've stated that to us. And that has put one incredible hurt on a lot of families. Not just in Florida...but nationwide.

Whatever happended to our Government being the voice of the people? What happened to that basic fundemental our country was founded on? Why in the world would we want to spend almost $2 trillion dollars to try and kickstart our economy? That's crazy. If you want a comparison...it's like our Government just swiped a huge VISA credit card...that's the way a vast majority of us see it, sir. Our Government just made a $2 trillion dollar purchase on credit with no means of paying it back. Sir...if people are loosing their jobs left and right...foreclosures going through the roof...how do you think that money's going to be paid back?

It's certainly not going to be from "all those jobs the stimulis bill's supposed to create." Here's another basic economic lesson: You want to know why retail stores are recording so many quarterly losses? Because so many people are afraid of loosing their jobs that they're holding on to every penny they can. If people are afraid of spending their money, the stores are going to hurt...car dealers won't be selling any cars...you know the drill.

I can go on and on about this, sir...but it seems like no matter what I try or do, the message just doesn't seem to get through to anybody. You've heard my stand in previous emails...I'm a huge supporter of the Fair Tax Bill...me, along with a vast majority of this country truly believe that is the only way out of this mess we're in. All I got to say is that when that $2 trillion dollar "VISA bill statement" comes due...don't be surpised if you guys come up short on the payment.
Something that is very puzzling to me...we all know that the Fair Tax will be extremely beneficial to our destroyed economy. So why is it so hard for the lawmakers in Washington to see that?!? I just don't get it. Is it because all the little earmarks, favors, and kickbacks will be lost? I don't know...maybe. It's just fustrating. Why have a tax code that's over 60,000 pages long if you put it in normal book form? That's just crazy!!

Maybe that's the problem...the Fair Tax makes TOO much…
Maybe that's the problem...the Fair Tax makes TOO much sense....it's TOO simple...it TOO revolutionary. It's not filled up with all kinds of legal loopholes that the wealthy (and apparently Congressman) can hide behind. "It was an honest mistake." Please...if someone like you or I made a "mistake" like that, do you think we could plead stupidity to the IRS? Don't think so...they'd be all over us. If the IRS is so worried that they'd be put out of a job if we go with the Fair Tax, just reassign them...have them monitor the new rules and guidelines to the Fair Tax to make sure it's being done right. There's going to be a need for those people, to make sure the new rules are implemented, etc. The Bill is small enough...about 150 pages or so, that shouldn't be too hard to master, right?

Who knows these days. All I do know is that the first "Bailout" to the tune of $800 billion dollars done up by the Bush Administration didn't help any....Obama's 2nd round of $800 billion dollars is just insane. Makes a lot of sense, doesn't it? The first $800 billion didn't work....let's try another $800 billion! Typical rule in Government spending, "Why have one when you can have two at twice the price." I understand the need of having to spend money in order to help things along...that's all fine and good. Coporations do it all the time. But why spend the money when you're going to have less coming in? Maybe that's why I said, "Time to break out the crayons...." Obviously some people up there on the Hill need a re-education in basic math and economics. Might as well give them a box of Crayolas and start from scratch.

For the sake of the average ordinary person like you and me...I really seriously hope that the Fair Tax gets some real attention in the coming months. It's nice to know that it has been reintroduced last month. At least a few of our elected officals see the best fix to the problem. One thing I can say...it may not be the "right" fix...or the "wrong" fix. But given the situation, I honestly think it's the BEST fix that is out there right now.Time to break out the crayons...tag:www.fairtaxnation.com,2009-02-28:2636007:BlogPost:267862009-02-28T00:39:40.000ZMarchttp://www.fairtaxnation.com/profile/Marc
