Replace All Federal Taxes on Income with the Fair Tax Act , HR 25 and S 122

Republican Defection?

I heard this morning on the Neal Boortz show that the Republican Party is encouraging all Republicans not to associate with the FairTax, apparently because it is so easy to demagogue.

It seems to me that if our elected representatives can't stand the heat, they should not even consider running for re-election.

Those of you who are lucky enough to have FairTax supporters representing you in Congress need to remind them why they are there.

While you are at it, you might mention that you don't just expect their passive support, but want them to actively recruit new supporters.

Comment by Nancy L. Gatchel on May 2, 2009 at 12:00pm: This makes no sense. Though I have a party affiliation, I reserve the right to vote for the person I think will get the job done. Unless you're one of those people that just votes straight party, this shouldn't be an issue. People that vote straight party have lost (or never had) the ability to think for themselves, in my opinion.

If candidates begin supporting the Fair Tax, D or R, they will gain support.

If the above is true, then they're just playing politics and trying to politicize this issue. Frankly, I find that very annoying. I would love to see Dem and Republican leaders have the hutzpah to actually be bipartisan and come together on an issue that is simply the best for this country. Wouldn't that be a breath of fresh air. Well, we Americans know how to come together even if our leaders have lost sight of how it's done. Who knows? Maybe we can teach them something!

Comment by Everett Bennett, Jr. on April 23, 2009 at 8:12pm: Well... the point is we should strive to get FairTax support from Democrats/Republicans/Dog Catchers, etc. I for one, like the idea of Constitutional Convention.....let's get the states together and see where it falls. It can't be worse than what we have now! Grass roots movement is it....we can't wait on Congress!

Comment by Dave Sibole on April 17, 2009 at 6:43am: I was watching FOX News the other morning and in the pundit pit they had 3 people and ask them who they thought looked good looing ahead to 2012 and no mention was made of Huckabee at all even after the good showing he got in the primary last year, his staying in the spotlight and his support of the Fair Tax. The media is still trying overlook us, thinking we will go away. Got news for them.
