Fair Tax Nation

Replace All Federal Taxes on Income with the Fair Tax Act , HR 25

For Immediate Release: Put a “Going Out of Business” sign at the IRS

Statement from the Alabama Republican Assembly on the recent targeting of nonprofit organizations by the Internal Revenue Service – May 20, 2013

One of the most already intrusive of federal agencies has had a really bad couple of weeks now, but the Alabama Republican Assembly believes any pain experienced by the IRS is nothing more than a “finger prick” compared to the pain placed upon Americans and our economy every year. “The IRS is simply representative of an over-sized, out-dated, inefficient, and personally intrusive federal government”, said ALRA President Don Wallace, a Northport CPA.

When organizations, both religious and political, are targeted over their beliefs by perhaps the highest officials at the IRS, as evidenced by the calls of senior Democrats to investigate their political opponents, it smells badly. However, the IRS and our entire federal tax system should go the way of history based on any objective view of the evidence. Simply, the IRS administers a federal tax collection system that punishes production with its taxation of income, at the very time our nation needs to revive manufacturing and our national economy. The system costs BILLIONS of dollars to collect, compared to the minimal cost it would take to implement and collect the Fair Tax. Those billions in savings could be re-invested into our economy in more efficient, productive means by individual and corporate taxpayers alike. Perhaps even more importantly, there are estimates reaching as high as $13 TRILLION of capital investment that would return to American shores, but not for the federal tax system the IRS represents.

Certainly, the Alabama Republican Assembly believes that top IRS officials, perhaps even officials in the White House, knew about the targeting of groups that included two Alabama organizations in Mobile and Wetumpka. We believe those officials should be dismissed from any positions they occupy and prohibited from holding other federal posts. “It is frankly unbelievable that officials associated with this abuse could now be in the position of using the IRS to enforce ObamaCare. That should concern every American that values freedom, individual responsibility and liberty,” said Wallace. The Republican Assembly also invites all Americans to consider even more important factors and ask that their federal officials put a “Going Out of Business” sign on the IRS door that will spur an economic recovery perhaps like no other.
