Fair Tax Nation

Replace All Federal Taxes on Income with the Fair Tax Act , HR 25

This discussion is so we can get an idea of how many contacted their representative asking that they attend the Special Order conducted by Steve King of Iowa. I think it will be good to tract some of our activities to evaluate how much participation we are getting and what the results from it are. I sent a request to Mike Turner of District 3 through his official website.

Yep, just sent my request to Rep Space. Hopefully, he'll take advantage of this extraordinary opportunity to get up to speed on the Fair Tax.

Thanks to everyone who is helping with this uphill battle.
Dave, I notified Mike Turner and also requested my 2 Senators attend.
Hope this gets a good showing!
Dave, I inadvertently posted this to the comment wall...so I went back and am now pasting the same here. Thanks.

Dave,

from Ohio's 6th Congressional district I just wanted to let you know I have sent an e mail to my representative, the text of which follows: (Addressed to Congressman Charlie Wilson)

Charlie,
my understanding is that Steve King, Congressman from Iowa, has requested and received approval for a special order discussion of HR25 tomorrow evening, March 17, at about 6:00PM. As you may recall you and I have communicated about this in the past. Charlie, I ask and strongly urge you to be in attendance if at all possible.

Thanks,
Fred Sirianni
To The Honorable Patrick J. Tiberi,

Representative Steve King of Iowa has stated that he will call for a Special Order to discuss some truly powerful economic stimulus legislation: The FairTax Act of 2009 (H.R. 25 / S. 296). As a registered voter in your constituency, I urge you to review the FairTax, and lend your support to the initiative.

The current economic crisis is a perfect example of why we need the FairTax. America’s financial situation is out of control at several levels. Our corporations, banks, and small businesses are suffering or failing. Our goods and services are not competitive in the global market. Those who have money to invest are not inclined to do so. When the FairTax becomes law, it will:

  • Eliminate federal income tax and capital gains taxes, allowing individuals to spend, save, or invest with confidence. 12 Trillion dollars of expatriated capital comes back to our banks from offshore accounts.
  • Eliminate corporate taxes and payroll taxes, allowing our companies to innovate without consequence, and move their facilities back home. Foreign companies build new facilities here in America. Our own goods and services become affordable and viable in the world market.
  • Turn everyone within our borders into taxpayers. Those in our shadow and underground economies (pimps, prostitutes, drug dealers, illegal aliens) and even tourists will pay taxes. The number of taxpayers goes from 140 million to well over 300 million, solving our Social Security and Medicare funding crisis.
  • Ensure that those at or below the poverty line do not pay taxes on the necessities of life, by providing a monthly “prebate” to every household in America. This encourages legal immigration.

Understandably, this is not a universally popular plan in Congress, and it’s even less popular on K Street. Lobbyists make millions of dollars because of our convoluted tax system, and that system provides others in Government with a level of control with which they might not want to part. However, the bottom line is that we don’t have a choice. We can keep grasping at straws and throwing money into a black hole... or, we can enact a piece of legislation which is backed by 25 million dollars of research, supported by hundreds of economists, and proven to work at the state level in 13 of our own states.

This grassroots movement gathers steam every day, and it will become a key election issue for our representatives in Congress. Again, I urge you to lend your support now, and consider showing your support of the FairTax along with Representative King. I thank you for your time, and for your service to your constituents.

Sincerely Yours,
Matthew Judy
Mine are in as well
I let Steve Austria know about this
I called my Rep. Steve LaTourette. The lady who answered the phone said she would pass on the message.
I contacted my rep., Jim Jordan. After the House discussion, I sent him an email expressing my disappointment. He keeps sending me emails and snail mails saying he has a good idea for simplifying the present tax code. No matter how many times I call and write asking him just exactly what this plan is, I get the same old answer but I don't get his plan. And I get no answer as to why he doesn't support the Fair Tax. He's not "against" it, he just doesn't support it.
I called again the other day and I told the staffer that I didn't want another letter telling me he has a better plan; I told them that I want to know EXACTLY what that plan is. I'm reasonably sure it's not as good as the Fair Tax. How could he possibly come up with a better plan when he hasn't spent the research time for his plan as the composers of the Fair Tax did?
I like Rep. Jordan and he's worked hard for his constituents, but this one area has become a deal breaker for me.
Rep. Boehner's campaign asked me for a donation. I called his office and asked if the congressman supports the Fair Tax. Answer: It's not even being talked about. My response: Why not? Answer: Dems control the House. Me: What's that got to do with it? Suffice it to say I was frustrated. I told the staffer that I can't donate until Rep. Boehner supports the Fair Tax.
As far as I know, Rep. Tiberi is the only congressman in Ohio that supports the Fair Tax and neither of our senators.
I've made up my mind that I will not donate money to any candidate not supporting the Fair Tax.
