    Marilyn,
I am pretty new to the Fairtax idea and am just now doing the reading of the FairTax books in order to get a real handle on what it is all about. I have been voicing the opinion that a consumption tax was a better idea than income tax for years. Can't believe it's been around this long and I've not gotten wind of it.
I would like to learn a bit more before I jump in with both feet.
Sure sounds like the right way to go thus far.
Thanks for the welcome, I'll stay tuned :-)

Hi Marilyn. I was just reading a statement that said "the new sales tax would not apply to corporations when they're purchasing goods and services from other businesses."
    Is this true?
I am very much in favor of the Fair Tax, but I was interested in whether this is true or not.

    Marilyn,
I have my screen name as Protest and I just sent out a comment and it used my full name Cindy Tappenbeck. Please tell me how to correct this. Thank you.

FT+Postcard+w+disclaimer+FTN+and+AFFT[1].doc Marilyn, you were looking for the latest Post Card File. This is the one with both LOGO's and the disclaimers you had asked for. Is this one the one you want. Maybe you can put it in the upload files tab.

Marilyn, Thanks for the welcome, First let my wife and I commit to the 9.12.09 rally, in Wash.D.C. We hope to be the two who makes a total of two million in attendance, we plan to be a few days early to get a front row position. You can find me listed on your site as C/C of south duval county fl. If we can assist in any way we will give it our best to help in anyway. We know two million is not a problem for D.C. unless our current ,out of control ,Government chooses to do so.

    Marilyn,
Thank you for the welcome! I am excited about this bill and am heavily involved already. I am keeping up with money coming into district 2 in Alabama and was wondering if you could help me. What is the address in Texas where I need to send donations to? I have Carolyn in Accts. Rec. in Houston, TX, but not a P.O. Box.
    Thanks!
  • Chris Lewis

Thanks for the Welcome. I have both Fairtax books and am going to run locally as a Libertarian. I am also organizing yet another local Tea Party on July 4th and am trying to get the local FairTax suppoters to come out.

Hope you &yours enjoy the Holiday.

We had discussion on "forum donations" and were wondering if there could be an "alert" for all FTN members and perhaps contact fairtax.org.

Mr. Tony is needing funds for radio, billboards, etc. This 501C status changes everything. Folks looking for hope will find it in FairTax.

    Hello, Marilyn.
Per your request I have examined my photos. I have removed the cartoons/photos of Pelosi regarding her lies about the water-boarding issue. However, I have left cartoons/photos of our wonderful DC pals that refer to tax issues; particularry not paying them or taxing the Hell out of the rest of us in the known Universe.
  • Jeff Greenwood

Thanks! I have been trying to do some local grassroots when I can. I have developed a facebook page to help gather more supporters and to make supporting the FairTax more available. Its called FairTax Rally! It would be great if you could promote it on your site. I'll have links to FairTax Nation on the page to promote your site as well. Thanks again!

I wrote a letter to Jim below:
    Jim
I notice how you talked about Dick Armey is a Flat Tax Promoter, Well it may be true and with Steve Forbes, the "mastermind" behind Flat Tax, who is a member of the Freedomworks. We at FairTaxSOWEGA have been working along side their local group of Freedomworks of SW Georgia and their Southeastern Regional Director Allen Page for Freedomworks in promoting FairTax with their local organization. On March 21th we were invited to Freedomworks meeting. We at FairTaxSOWEGA were happy to see that S/R Director Allen Page had the FairTax logo in their slide presentation. Yes this is true. You may think, "yeah well they know we were coming". I don't think so, as we came at the last minute. Now I know for fact, I have talked to their local members and they all want FairTax over Flat Tax. I think what is going on inside their organization is their people feel FairTax is better proposition than the original Flat Tax idea of Ronald Reagan's days. If you remember Ronald Reagan tried a form of Flat Tax which did help the economy regain its self back until recent years ( Reagonomics). We all know Flat Tax will only last a few years before it reverts back to the income tax of today.
We all have seen Dick Armey's survey between FairTax and Flat Tax on their website. Southeastern Regional Director for AFFT Phil Hinson and I, on our website, have asked people to vote for FairTax in his survey. If you have seen this survey, which it was mostly Dick's Freedomworks group and members who voted, did so with FairTax support overwhelming the Flat Tax. I think in due time - with his people who want the FairTax over Flat Tax- will be supportive of FairTax, as we continue to gain more support. We have all seen the recent surge of support for FairTax all over the nation.

We FairTaxSOWEGA are grassroots and will continue to work on local districts to change our elected officials minds. FairTaxSOWEGA has a wonderful Volunteer Communication Director who is top notch in letter writing. Our FairTaxSOWEGA Twitter program in 6 months has over 1700 followers, many have retweeted, our messages everyday. We are gaining many politicians and candidates every day who are following us. We have noticed many news organization following. We are holding the number one spot in the Alexa Ranking for FairTax Websites and Twitter sites. There is an expansion of people who want more than just FairTax, they want it passed. FairTaxSOWEGA is holding many events every month and meetings and is growing in all our areas. We have a local area which people have become passive so we are launching a new idea to help get more farmers involved through Farm Bureau, FairTax.org has a whole section on this issue. We are going to work with Black Leaders through churches to get the black citizens involved talking to them how the "prebate" program will benefit them and help them. We have learned if people start loosing interest we must rebuild that area. We are getting help from our local news media and believe it or not they are working with us without FairTaxSOWEGA paying for anything, they are advertising for us. Now is the time to push harder forward while we have the peoples' interest and the country is looking for answers. Working with these news media and websites is the way to reach them.

We are working on our Democrat Congressman Sanford Bishop (Ga2) to have FairTax Organization from Houston to sit down with the Blue Dog Democrats to allow Fairtax Organization for a presentation and discussion with these democrats. Southeastern Regional Directors Phil Hinson has supported our efforts. Houston is waiting for our results. I am happy to report we are getting closer to having this event to happen. If you would like to help then I ask your members to write to the Blue Dog Democrats in their districts asking to get with the FairTax Organization for a meeting and presentation. This is the only way we can get Fairtax inside Washington and if this happens and we gain all their ( B/D/Demo) support as sponsors, we will then have enough to push Fairtax through the House. As it stands now we have 72 sponsors for Fairtax, with the Blue Dogs as sponsors, we can get the 123 sponsors needed to have this results accomplished.

Jim Please I hope you don't take me wrong I am only asking your FairTax Nation Group to help with us to push forward so we all can do our part to get FairTax passed. I am not boasting but working very hard to do what ever it takes to help get FairTax implemented. Your have a strong nation wide FairTax spur group. We are just a local district group but we are working hard for something we believe is the only answer to save this great land of ours. Please join with us to help us too. I would love nothing more than to get this FairTax implemented, so I can get to work on my new business and not spending so much time on this issue. Until that happens we will spend the necessary time it takes.

    Thanks
    Charlie

Hi Marilyn, thanks for the welcome. I read the book on Fairtax about 6 months ago and I am 1000% convinced that the Fairtax is what we need to get this giant back on his feet. There are some powerful entrenched politicians, lobbyist, and their media working against us and in my opinion the only way we get this done is by education of the public. I have educated over 50 or 60 people about the Fairtax since then and only one person (angry at the world guy) walked away. Everyone else said they would like to see it happen. These people were of both political parties, I know this for a fact on most, but at the same time I did not ask about their politics, nor should I. We need to keep politics out of this I think you may have said this here. When the Fairtax is explained it sells itself but at the same time it must be explained fully without sugar coating. One thing some people on this site are a little confused about is the witholding taxes, they are thinking the employee will be able to keep all of these and still the 22% embedded taxes would go away. This is not true, the employee taxes are part of the 22% embedded taxes (2nd book starting on page 72). If employers get to save these tax dollars then the prices will remain the same simply speaking, if not prices will be higher, either way we are all better off with the Fairtax, with its prebate and keeping all your overtime. I had some discussion here about this but I dropped it, I am new here. I also think if we do not get our facts right it will hurt our mission. The politicians will not do this until the public demands it and the majority do not know about it. Thats why in my opinion we need to make our priorty educating the public and then the speakers and motivators can take over and do job #2 and get the people out, because the complacency of the public is our 2nd obstacle. Once the people come out in big enough numbers the politicians will be pushovers cause they will know they are fixing to get FIRED. Sorry about the short bossy sentences I do not mean to sound that way, these are my thoughts and I can not type (hunt and peck). I would like to know what you and the others think.

    Dear Marilyn:

Thank you so much for the warm welcome. I was honored to meet you and to attend the rally. I so admire you and Mark for your dedication to this cause and am grateful to Mark for bringing it to my attention. I have become a staunch supporter and will henceforth work hard to help make it happen. My strong points are my pen and my patience for research so if there's something I can do in that particular regard, please don't hesitate to let me know.

    Bless you,

    Kaeryn

Hi Marilyn, The tax free thing is a great idea. People in the old days who lived under the Roman empire who were under suppression thought the same thing. Tax free is the beginning to getting our country back to a Republic.

Democracy leads to Socialism. Socialism leads to communism. Communism leads to BONDAGE. At this time we are no longer heading toward Socialism, we are there. So the tax free thing is a great start but it cannot stop there. We are now where the founders of this country most feared. The Roman Empire.

    Marilyn,

I would consider it but have no idea as to how Fair Tax Nation is organized and what kind of help and assistance is available. Are there some cities in Oregon that have organized local groups? Americans for Prosperity have a powerful organization with trainings on how to win a debate, organize demonstrations and 5 or 6 other trainings with monthly, meetings, powerful speakers with stature in the political arena. That is why I thought getting their endorsement for the FairTax from them would be a huge jump forward for this cause.

I'll see what I can find out about the endorsement and hope that you send me more information about what is going on in Oregon regarding the Fair Tax.

    Marilyn,

If I recall correctly, there was a discussion about possibly getting me a list of names of known FairTax supporters in my congressional district. I'm in 4 in Ohio. Is this possible? If so, I surely could use it. Thanx!
  • Philip A. Piro III

    Hi Marilyn,

Let me know what I can do to help. I am a strong supporter for FairTax and would love to get involved. I am also willing to get support at my university in CT by starting a group. Just let me know.

    Best,
    Phil

I'm tech challenged so here goes: I want to invite some folks to join FTN but I can't because the site has limited email addresses, ie:AOL, Yahoo, Hotmail, Gmail, etc. My address is verizon.net. Can you tell me how I work around this?
  • Rodney Ballance

I am impressed with the work you are doing in your networking efforts. Our organization is a huge fairtax supporter, and have a free link to Fairtax nation on our home page.

Will you help promote our efforts within your network for me? our website is www.billybarepockets.com.

    Hi Marilyn!
am selling the idea. have a look at Randy Barnett's federalism amendment; it specifies a national retail sales tax
also am connecting with Cowboy TEA Party folks
  • Fûz

Do you have a good solid flier, front-and-back of one sheet I could spin up for handing out at the next protest?
  • Laura McCue

Marilyn, this came to me from an NC-11 supporter.
"Hi Laura. While looking around the FT Nation website I noticed a typo on the FT Petition Flyers. I looked all over but didn't see a way to make this known to anyone who could fix it. If you know who can....in the last line before the Name entry, the word verify needs a "y". I know, it's kinda dumb, but typos always stick out like a sore thumb to me & don't think we should have this if it's going to Congress. Thanks."
  • Miki Booth

    Marilyn,
Please visit the site of my new passion www.goooh.com This is a new way to select our representatives. It is growing like wildfire but the media is waiting and watching to see who will break the news. Please watch the series of videos. FairTax and GOOOH are going hand in hand, at least here in OK. FairTax is spinning its wheels as long as Charlie Strangle has a rangle-hold on it. When GOOOH flips the House next year, those reps will pass FairTax. See if you agree. OK FairTax coordinators are shifting their focus to work thru GOOOH.
  • Charlie Prochaska

Marilyn, the CSPAN link isn't coming through. Is it just my pc or is the link incorrect? I really want to see this since I couldn't make this event! I also want to post on twitter.

    Confirming my email address
  • Julia Meston

Well, I just sent out about 23 emails regarding the Fair Tax and urging them to sign up for District 09. It's just a small start, but hopefully, this will generate some more interest; I'm sure each small step makes a difference! Thanks for giving us "little" people a chance to get involved!
  • Beverly Martin

I look at those pictures and think about the difference between these events and the ones the mighty attend in Washington DC. Right now our group is having trouble getting our local politicians to attend an informational FairTax meeting. I never expected such apathy at the local level in a town that is bleeding jobs and money. Our Court Street is giving birth to a ghost town with its vacant buildings and 'ForRent' signs while our councilmen and city officials, county commissioners are uninterested in the one tax reform that could make Missouri a beacon for displaced businesses and industries having to move thanks to tax codes in their home state. Apathy to the common man apparently starts at home.
  • Beverly Martin

Great idea. Our local newspaper is interested in the turnout on Thursday. They are concerned that we got so little response from public servants invited almost 20 days ago. We will see who and which officials show up on the 29th. Afterall, $483.6 Billion dollars is not chicken feed! Our public servants might want to know about this tax reform proposal.(That is how much we would gain in GDP over 25 years in MO if we eliminated the income tax.Thank you, Show Me Institute for the research) Eliminating the income tax in MO grows the GDP by 0.7% according to SMI.What Does the State Income Tax Cost Missourians? Marilyn,

He's a politician, what would you expect. Volcalizing a Flat Tax is a middle of the road position. He still makes a good ally and a possible 2012 Presidental candidate. Turn him for the FairTax and he would become an even better Huckabee.

Hi Marilyn, I have not been active on FairTaxNation recently. Yesterday I tried to pull up the OH members and I got about 6. I tried again today and got the same. What am I doing wrong? Billie
  • Billie

Thanks, I sent invitations to about 10 people on Saturday; so I want to see if any of them join. Billie
  • Billie

Hi Marilyn, I just tried "Members search" again and I think I got 6 for OH and I tried "Orient" and just got one. I believe there are more than that in both searches. Have you given me permission to add names? Billie
  • Billie

Hi Marilyn the members search seems to be working. Thanks. Billie
  • Linda Finkel

I just took the Fair Tax on-line survey about how to spend resources for getting the word out. I chose T.V. and radio ads because there was not an "other" option.

My preference would be fairly inexpensive:

I think it would be helpful to have DVDs for sell in the Fair Tax on-line store to be purchased by those of us who want to make a presentation to a group of people but don't really have the knowledge or speaking abilities! I belong to a tea party group that would be very interested in watching such a video.

There are tea party groups in cities all over the nation. If we could team up with them, I think it would be an excellent way to reach a large number people who are concerned about our country, who are activists, fiscally conservative and who are hungry to learn about ways we can make our country better! I think educating tea party members would cause an explosion of interest around the country!

    What do you think?

Marilyn, Will there be another rally in D.C. on this September?
