I was looking at The Contract From America, for which the FairTax is listed as a
founding member. Article 4 limits the text of income tax replacement legislation
to 4543 words (the length of the original Constitution). This arbitrary
limitation would disqualify HR25 out of hand. As an experiment I imported into
WORD the text of HR25 as reported on the Thomas Registry and ran a word count,
which came out to be 22,754. Someone please assure me this was an unintended
consequence.
My Regional Director, Marilyn Richert, sends the following on the topic:
Congressman Linder addressed this issue at the Operation FairTax Victory Conference in Washington DC on April 16. The entire day's event was professionally video taped. We have edited the all day conference into a 90 minute DVD which includes Linder addressing this issue. The DVD is in final production and should be available soon.
