Our goal is 1000 members in each ofthe 50 States. Every state counts. This will be easy for some and hard for others. Some state will be able to beat this easily but that is not good enough. We need to find ways to help weaker states get involved.
Look on the front page under the cartoon a little ways down... you should see the blog. If you don't, please let me know. For some reason the blog tab is not showning up for some members. I need to find out what is going on with that.
Thank you Jim. I never would have gone there without directions. One of the problems I'm having with all the FairTax idea, is fragmentation. Don't know where to go to get 'direction.' I am trying to think of an effective way to target stations (I guess radio AND TV in the San Antonio area that carry Bill O'Reilly now. I don't think that I've run across him on any local radio stations, and he isn't on my 'basic' cable. I don't even use the antenna for the TV, so I have no idea what's there. Maybe I could do a 'Google' search for San Antonio Bill O'Reilly.
Maybe this is the problem with KTSA San Antonio: Airs: M-F, 10pm - 12am. That's past my bedtime, the result of the 'Google' search. Maybe you have more experience with search engines, but I am frustrated that the results don't have DATES. I may be missing something, but I would like to have some idea just how comparatively old a search result is.
Jim - please check out my forum "House Ways and Means Committee". I think this is a good approach that people can add to their FairTax aresenal. The concept is to write weekly to each Committe member leading up to April 15. I think this Committee will be the first stop in any real Federal tax reform. I have attached an Excel spreadsheet of Member's contact info that can be used in a Word mail merge.
I think this a good idea, but where is the spreadsheet?
If all the local communities would hand out/email this to our local support and be consistent with the writing, it reflects a strong organization structure. Also, pass this on to the other sites.
Mailings are a strong force, emailings they can easily block by filtering out certain words and create auto responses.
I do have an honest question (or two) about this. I have read a lot about this, but there are a few things that puzzle me. They say this will eliminate the IRS (which is good), but exactly what beauracratic entity will be implemented to mail out or keep track of making sure that each individual gets his/her $20K rebate checks?
This would replace all of our Federal Taxes w/ a 30% sales tax, ok. But what about states like mine and 47 others that have State sales taxes (just so everyone knows, I know there are 50 states, but two do not have state sales taxes)?
Plus, this does not cover our State Income Taxes, Property Taxes, etc.
Do you know anything about how this national sales tax would be implemented to mesh w/ the States?
The SSA already tracks how much money they supposedly owe you (altho' there is no money put aside). The prebate is a much simpler equation based on family size and current poverty level. It only covers the tax paid on necessities. http://fairtaxnation.ning.com/forum/topics/new-poverty-guidelines-for shows the latest table out there... the check is the amount shown divided by 23% (the inclusive rate - 30% is the exclusive rate, which is not how any of this is figured for anyone.
As far as I know, the states will continue to fund themselves however they deem best. The difference will be a better economy as studies show implementing the FairTax will bring money and jobs back to the USA
I'd like to know where you got the ideas about 20K checks and a 30% sales tax. If you've read anything from FairTax.org or the books, you would not have this info. Where did you get this misinformation?
Hi there Rodeo,
Sorry to be so long replying. Looks like Carol did a fine job in my absence. When you reference 'they' that leaves room for many sources of mis-information. It's more fun when you are more specific in identifiing you sources. Then we can razz them about their bad info.
