It would seem to me, if you are going to put something in print for the world to see, the facts would be correct. Now the whole world knows how stupid this guy is. What a pitty.

Grimes, 76, is president and CEO of a family-owned company which runs six weekly newspapers in Georgia, the Manchester Star Mercury (Manchester), Harris County Journal (Hamilton), Meriwether Vindicator (Greenville), Hogansville Home News (Hogansville), Monroe County Reporter (Forsyth), and Talbotton New Era (Talbotton). Grimes stays in daily touch with each paper, reading pages, adjusting headlines, engaged in the work of newspapering. Obviously, he is much too absorbed in running his newspapers to adequately and thoroughly research The FairTax. My first inclination upon reading this article in The Georgia Trend--which Grimes has owned, twice--was to throw darts at his intelligence. That is inappropriate, however. After researching the man and learning of his journalistic background and many accomplishments, which includes considerable philanthropy in the area of journalism education, I must conclude that his gross errors in describing The FairTax are due, rather, to failure to do adequate research. He obviously is a person who reads only part of anything, forms an opinion based on incomplete information and misunderstanding, then reacts to what he thinks he knows. There are many such very intelligent people who've done exactly the same thing, regarding The FairTax, among them Bill O'Reilly and Glen Beck, unfortunately. Such people could be a tremendous help to our cause, if only someone could get them to listen to the whole story. Trouble is, they simply won't take the time because they think they already know all about it and have made up their minds against The FairTax. They propagate harmful inaccuracies, thinking they are doing the right thing. I don't really think Mr. Grimes is deliberately lying, like some in the Congress of The United States are doing, he's simply mis-informed. Too bad.
