Fair Tax Nation

Replace All Federal Taxes on Income with the Fair Tax Act , HR 25

That's what the FairTax would give each and every one of us. And I think we would need some form of IRS to make SURE merchants don't try to get around the FairTax by saying that they are only selling used goods.

Why is freedom of choice only granted to a woman and her uterus and not all of us and taxes?

I demand freedom of choice over my taxes!!

The FED's do not need this power. That should fall to the States. The Fair Tax does this by funding the administrative cost of the tax collection process with 0.25% of the total FT collected by the State. (This amount would fully fund the CA taxing authority. Each state would also be collecting more state taxes in the process. They would target the tax evaders who are not paying both Fair Tax and state sales tax.
I didn't know that. Thanks for the explanation. This point became the the other day when I was having a discussion with a friend of mine about the FairTax. He brought up the question Re: someone trying to beat the system by saying that their merchandise was used. I thought that at that point we might need some remnants of the "Internal Revenue Service" to monitor merchants trying to cheat the system.

But it really does tick me off that I don't have a choice about paying taxes. The FairTax gives me that freedom of choice. I can choose whether or not I want to buy something. As I said earlier in this discussion I don't think "freedom of choice" should only be limited to a woman wanting to abort a fetus. Those are my thoughts, and I thank you for yours.
Dario...sounds like a perfect line to start twittering... Freedom of Choice when paying one's Federal Taxes!! FAIRTAX! IT is time!!!
Jamie, I don't know how to use twitter (shucks!). But I like that as a rallying cry!

I DEMAND MY FREEDOM OF CHOICE WHEN I PAY MY FEDERAL TAXES!!
"And I think we would need some form of IRS to make SURE merchants don't try to get around the FairTax by saying that they are only selling used goods."

The state of Tennessee seems to be able to take care of that just fine without the help of the Federal Gov and the IRS.
Jim,
You could be right, we have a 6% state sales tax in CT. My thought was more along the lines of finding something for the displaced federal workers to do after a 23% tax is added onto that 6%.

Just an idea, that's all....
When the FairTax is enacted, economists predict an economic boom and job growth. The "displaced federal workers" who have solid job skills and a work ethic will find new jobs. The IRS will most likely continue - as a significantly smaller department - to monitor and manage the monies collected by the states and remitted on to the federal government. A key difference is that the re-vamped -- and hopefully re-named IRS -- will no longer intrude into our personal financial lives.
EXACTLY!

The irs (tiny) would have a new focus for their "inquisitions"....
States would control this.....if the fed took control....it would be 'tinkered with;

Just because the fed controls it now doesn't mean they have to control it later ;)
