I attended this event this evening. In the shuttle bus (from parking area) I found a number of Fair Tax supporters of all ages. Or rather, they found me by my shirt and sign.
Rep. Pat Tiberi was the first speaker. I held my sign high for him to see and I was maybe 20 to 30 ft. from the stage. I wanted to remind him that we're watching as he, the loan member of congress here in Ohio to support FairTax, isn't doing anything about it.
I was much more encouraged by John Kasich. When he spoke of taxes I was holding that sign high, and I swear, he looked directly at me as advocated an end to income and death taxes! There were to many VIPs there for me to get close enough to ask him if he supported the Fair Tax. However, many things he said seem to be strong indicators in the right direction. I will find out one way or another.
I regret not thinking ahead enough to plan for more of us to come. To my knowledge, I was the only volunteer there.
I was interviewed by a newspaper reporter. He asked me if I wanted to hear Kasich address the Fair Tax, and he asked why I supported it. He was writing down everything I said. But...I couldn't hear him when he told me the name of newspaper! The music was too loud! I'll see if I can find it on the net. Wish me luck.
Kasich will also appear on Hannity tonite at 9. I hope there's some footage from this evening's event.
