He'd probably not be charged if the FairTax was in place - at least for the tax related violations. Ironic that he used to run ways and means who are responsible for tax policy....

I'm just amazed there has not been more outrage over Mr. Rangel chairing the Ways & Means and cheating on the very bills they write.
Just more news on tax evasion in the government and thus more indirect publicity for the FairTax.
But remember if the FairTax were passed today (oh lord that would be nice) he'd still be responsible for his back taxes.

I know - since it's hard to make the FT retroactive ;-). Somehow, they seem to do that with income taxes however.
