Using Meetup.com to build local Fairtax Community teams.

i was wondering if anybody thought about using meetup.com as a tool to build local community groups and recruiting strong community coordinators. I have used them in the past to start local groups and have had some success with it. i am starting to use it now for building a group in my town to hopefully build a strong fairtax team here. For District Directors this would be a great tool to help you build local community teams in cities or towns where you need them. If you start an account as a meetup organizer you can start up to 3 meetups. so pick your meetup group locations strategically. Pick the locations where you would like to grow your fairtax supporter base.

From what I've notcied so far, usually it works in reverse of that. People have chosen to drop the meet up groups to use the groups on FairTax Nation. You might want to talk to Jean In AL and Brenda in FL before you state the expenses of meetup groups.

We have been doing this for almost a year now. The organizer Brenda Janssen is now a member of FTN and has started a group on this site. (Central Florida Fairtax Nation) She has directed her members of the MeetUp to sign up on FTN as well as CFFTN and the Florida Fairtax Nation. This way she can save the costs of the MeetUp site. She also had a National FairTax Organizers MeetUp site but could not get other organizers to join.

FTN provides a much better site with the chat,forum, Blog etc than MeetUp provides.

I am hoping to move all my meetup members to this site ASAP!! I have a Fairtax meetup and a Mike Huckabee meetup with a combined 350 or so members which I would really like to see over here. I believe this is a better tool to use...would have done this last year if it had existed. Doesn't hurt to have a presence there on meetup, but use that presence to push FTN. JMHO.
