Replace All Federal Taxes on Income with the Fair Tax Act , HR 25

It has been noted that the FairTax has on several occasions had a possible branding conflict with the Republican Party. By this I mean, that FairTax and the GOP Logos have been seen side by side. Is this a problem? Is this a good thing? I welcome your opinions. (keep them clean though)

Hmmmm. Let's see. As much as I think this is a dead-bang issue for (us) right-of-center folks, I feel quite sure there are a fair number of left-of-center people who could be drawn over to the FairTax, too- as long as they do not feel they are having Republicanism jammed down their throats. I am still amazed that 54% of the voters chose a blatant socialist for President, which mainly indicates the level of discomfort with the Republican party. So having both logos side-by-side is probably not a good thing. On different parts of the same page or display, sure, but appearing linked, no. Maybe we should be operating in "stealth mode" in this regard. We know this is a Republican issue, but we work to attract moderate and conservative Dems (and there are LOTS of them) to our cause. We are unlikely to attract any of the far-left socialist crowd, since they cling to the belief that only wealthy folks should be taxed. This is a disastrous tax policy, but it's what our new Prez wants. This, even though the top 10% of earners now pay over 71% of the taxes collected. Sheesh! So here's where I'm going: It is my opinion we will have serious difficulty attracting enough of the old Congress crowd to our cause to get the FairTax enacted by ordinary means. "Professional politicians" love the power of manipulating our lives thru an incomprehensible Income Tax code, and they can always blame the IRS (legitimately!) for everyone's pain. I am "becoming opinionated" that we must repeal the 16th amendment as a central part of our campaign, and further that we must also amend the constitution to enact term limits for members of the Congress. Keep it simple- put it on the same schedule as the Presidential elections. Members of the House get one 4-year term, members of the Senate get two (if re-elected). Only through term limits will we get a Congress that can see the obvious wisdom of the FairTax, and will not oppose it for reasons of personal benefit. And if Republicans do a good job of "dancing with the one what brung 'em", we should also do a good job of forming a majority in a term-limited Congress. -Andy
