I would love to know as well!
I don't know about events in Houston, but the NFIB (National Federation of Small Business) is sponsoring a Small Business Day at the Capitol in Austin on Tuesday, Februday 17.

Speakers include Gov. Perry, Comptroller Susan Combs, several state legislators, and some bigwigs from Washington. To my knowledge, the NFIB has not taken a stand on the FairTax (they have a lot of retail and restaurant members, who think it would be bad for their businesses).

There is a "March to the Capitol" planned for visits with legislators. It might be a good time to bring up a state FairTax. The cost is $50, and includes a reception, breakfast, and lunch. I don't think you have to be an NFIB member to attend.

It might be easier to get a state to adopt a state FairTax than to get the FairTax adopted nationally. This would be a great test and could be the camel's nose under the tent.
Wish I could do that... Unfortunately, I cannot go to Austin or I'd be there!

Maybe I just need to take the bull by the horns then. :)
As an ex-23 year very active member of NFIB, I had to send them my message of disappointment by severing my membership. Extensive pleas to the past three presidents—Faris, Stottlemyer, and now Danner—fell on deaf ears. They refuse to move on helping businessmen with the FairTax even though it is the BEST thing they could do to help businesses.

I encourage all NFIB members to do likewise (sever membership) to deliver a FairTax message. They will NOT listen. My experience and stories are lengthy, so I will talk to anyone interested. 281-342-9381
NFIB Small Business Day at the Capitol starts Monday evening with a reception at the Omni Hotel in Austin. On Tuesday, there are meeting scheduled all day with legislators. I plan to attend and will be bringing up a state FairTax.

Marv is correct that the NFIB does not support the FairTax, but they don't oppose it either. They take no official stand. I think the problem is that their members are split (retail/restaurant are generally against). We have to be more proactive in convincing small business owners.
What happen to the National Federation of Small Business day at the Capitol in Austin?
Would it be a good idea to get all of the local Chamber of Commerce folks involved in supporting Fair Tax? These are the folks that are at the heart of small business.... just a thought.

Our goal is to provide bulk pricing in small quantities of varied materials. If you're interested, please join GRFR at Fairtax.org. We're just setting this up, so prices will go down as more groups get involved. We're hoping your group could collect double the cost in donations to keep for local use. You might offer items like the window cling to any small business sponsors in your area. We're hoping we can get more visibility and want to work with all groups to get them what they need.
These packs will be available after May 1st.
Would this be helpful in your area?
