Letter just sent to Congressman Hastings:
Congressman Hastings,
It is FairTax time...as written! With the unemployment at almost 10%, Pelosi mentioning a VAT and 58 IRS workers illegally taking advantage of the redistribution of wealth via the $8,000 first time home buyers credit program not cosponsoring this legislation speaks louder than words.
In fact Democratic Congressman Brian Baird sees the benefits to all Americans and has this on his website, "Congressman Baird is also calling for the elimination of federal income and payroll taxes, to be replaced by a progressive national sales tax. Under the system, the tax rate would increase with the cost of the purchase; there would be a price indexed exemption for the purchase of a primary residence. Capital gains and the estate tax would also be reformed.

Please contact Congressman Linder's office today and have the cosponsor paperwork for HR25 drawn up so you can sign them.

I am currently the WA State Director, volunteer, for the FairTax legislation. There are 6 Community Coordinators in your district educating Americans in your district about this legislation.

Hundreds of them regardless of party have asked me why you are not a cosponsor and wonder if you think growing our economy is a good thing and what better idea you have to grow the economy other than the FairTax?

I will be sharing this email with the FairTax Supporters in your district and we look forward to your response.

I've point blank asked him "What do we need to do so you will cosponsor this legislation"? NO ANSWER. Mind you HE WORKS FOR US....yet I feel like I'm begging him, when he works for me. UGH!!!!

The problem he has is "HISTORY" as it was addressed in the current bill...the current system is ENDS the same yr the FairTax is implemented and then the states have 5 or 7 yrs. to repeal the 16th Amendment...if the Amendment is NOT repealed we go back to what we have now. Personally I find his excuse WIMPY!!! To my knowledge he has never cosponsored it, nor has he gotten in there to make sure what he think will be a problem isn't. Like he fights for the dams kind of thing.

In the last telephone Townhall Doc Hastings had, he brought up that he did support it but that there were constitutional concerns that needed to be addressed. No one specifically asked about the FairTax, he brought it up on hisown.

I am from Klickitat County, I have sent a letter to Rep. Hastings about his lack of support for the FairTax. My campaign office is in Spokane Valley, WA because I am in the Spokane area more often.

The Townhalls will be at 5:30pm....Do any of you have the rest of the information and do you have your FairTax gear in hand? PLEASE e-mail me at yes2fairtax@live.com

Thank you Robert Steele for opening your home in Moses Lake for a FairTax meeting. It was a success and attended by Denis Miller & Monte Spence...looking forward to seeing the support in Moses Lake grow!

BE ON ALERT...After contacting Congressman Hastings office I was informed that he would not be having a townhall meeting in the Tri-Cities. SO please keep eyes and ears open for the where and when so we can carpool/convoy to the townhall meeting! T.E.A.'d is an understatement!

We had our FairTax "open house" last night, and it was very well received. All of the people had never heard of the FairTax before I told them about it. They all seemed very interested, and shared their ideas. One interesting point someone brought up that I hadn't though of was how to sell this to retirees. This is a huge windfall for all of the people with IRAs and 401Ks. Strangely, this fact never occurred to me???!! Retirees vote (and thus have power), and should be 100% on board with the idea once they understand that prices will not automatically increase 23%.

Another suggestion they had was to employ the "KISS" strategy (Keep It Simple Stupid). I tend to get into the details, and that loses people. I'm sure many of you all know all this, but it's still a good point to keep in mind.

Several of them got so worked up, they made me create a Facebook page, and started showing me how to promote the FairTax on Facebook.

This was a great way to get the word out to people. So I encourage everyone to invite several of your friends over for dinner, and engage in the "faux pas" of political discussion.
