Carol and Mike have spent hours on the phone with me talking about national efforts. We support their efforts and would like them to feel at home on FairTax Nation.
  • Linda Kolodzik

We've been talking to a lot of people around town and there seems to be great interest in learning more about what the fair tax is and how it works for business owners. We have asked if anyone would be interested in attending a meeting were we able to get one together here, and the answer is yes. We just have to start getting together some hard dates and numbers. Will get back with you ...let us know what are good dates for you in the next month or so.
  • Douglas Daniel McCue

Thanks for the invite to "the Nation". I'll plan to add some writings to the site when I get the opportunities. I'm a much better communicator with "pen & ink" than as a speaker. It's starting to look like I will not be getting out of VA on time so making the 27th meet may not be possible. I will be there when I am able though. Keep up the great work!! Hope you saw the Columbia, SC rally PICS I put up on this site.
  • Eugene Fortain

    We plan to be there!
  • Randy C Almendinger

Yep - I'll be there with a friend or two.
  • Doug Morton

I'm actually now in Charleston, SC and would love to get involved down here now. Can you assist in that?
  • Doyle Damron

    Hi Laura,
/Thanks for the hello and for the invitation to the meeting. I am excited about FairTax and will definitely be at your next meeting.
  • David Lambright

    Hello Laura,

Thank you for your note. I have been kind of passively (writing representatives, Senators, etc.) been involved with the Fairtax here in Raleigh. I went to the FairTax rally down in Columbia, SC in 2007 and attended the 'Take Back our State' rally in Raleigh in June of 2008. Otherwise, I haven't really been that involved. I would like to work more on this if I have time, but I don't have much optimism that Obama will do anything to decrease his power to reward political friends and punish political enemies.

What kinds of things are most of the people here involved with?

    Thanks,
    David Lambright
  • Dave Sibole

Laura one point that investment advisors may point out is that people like to make investments with pre-tax dollars. All investments after the Fair Tax is inacted will be with pre-tax dollars.

Laura, Marvin Here, Las Vegas NV - When I get into it about the Far Tax and about every day. I ask -- what about a drug dealer selling a thousand dollars of drugs every day - You think they report that as income to the IRS - how about anyone working under thr table.
    All that income goes unreported.
I'm not against anyone working but with everyone paying --I.E the Fair Tax makes it a little better for all of us - I rest my case. Marvin
  • Randy Huntley

Do I need to sign up to come to the meeting on Tuesday or just show up? How long do the meetings generally last? Randy Huntley
  • Jim Tomasik

I called and left a message. I hope he signs up soon...
  • Linda Kolodzik

    Hi Laura,
We really do have a great interest in having a meeting here in Franklin. I know you sent us possible dates for the first 2 weeks in February, but it is looking as if we may be better toward the end of the month. If you are available on the 26th (everyone seems to think Thursday is the best day), then we will find a place and start letting people know. If March would be better toward the end, let us know. Thanks
  • Jeffrey Locke

Thanks for the belief and may I add that enthusiasm is necessary in most endeavors. I've heard this statement i thought it appropriate. "You need to be fired with enthusiasm or you'll be fired with enthusiasm!" author unknown.
I'll be running for state rep. of the 2nd district on the Republican ticket in 2010 here in southeast Kansas and will be championing a fairtax model to eliminate the state income tax. Support from the KCFairtax group has been tremendous.
  • Shawn McHenry

I just emailed it to U.
  • Ken Hoagland

We're on a roll Laura when so many things are happening. Full page ads, a lot of talk shows, the Harley's on the road, the social networking sites, the number 1 response on the Obama transition website. Now, we just need to recruit a lot more people and take that people power to the Congressional offices. We sare way short of where we need to be to block bad amendments when we get to the floor of the House. We need more FairTaxers, more states and more co-sponsors. We did pick up two new ones yesterday!
  • Linda Kolodzik

Yes, we are still working on getting a date for you to come. We are planning a Thursday evening. However, we have to go out of state on business and won't be able to finalize anything until after the middle of the month. The SC rally sounds like a great idea. I have not read the particulars yet,but will do that soon and share it with my husband. Thank you for following up with us. We are still very much interested in finding out more about the fair tax and are sure, just knowing what we do, that it has to be a great improvement for the entire nation. It seems to be the only thing that makes sense. Have a great day. We will be in touch.
  • Ron Martz

Thanks, Laura. I appreciate the kind words. That Harry Reid video is an absolute classic. I wonder if he really thinks the American public is really that dumb about our out-of-control income tax system. Even my sister, who is a retired IRS agent, is of the opinion that the tax system is out of control.

  • 11th District Republican Party

Hi Laura, it's Michael Muller. Our District Convention is April 25th and we'd love you to speak before the assembled delegates (prolly 200-300 folks at least). Perhaps a district resolution in support of the Fair Tax would be in order?
  • Mike Pool

John and I worked on it today and found that if you go to your inbox and compose an email you are not restricted.
  • C. Jason McKinley

If you would like it expedited, then please finish it. I can see what I can get done to have it added to the site. We value all the additional effort.
  • Jim Tomasik

It looks like Iam picking a fight with the republican party....

I will be speaking as a Democrat for FairTax at the Memphis Tea Party while throwing bombs at the Republinan party in Nashville where my congress woman might be grandstanding.

You see, I would rather fight than beg. We have been begging long enough!
  • Larry Porter

I'm techo ignorant. This is my third post but none seem to be getting there. I'll definetly be to the convention on Saturday. Just need to know what to do.
  • Carol Adams McLean

    Hey Laura,
I rsvp'd at the event on FTN as did David Ship and Larry from Waynesville. It looks like the event is covered!
  • David Shipp

I will be at the Waynesville event. If they still want a speaker, I will be happy to do that as well as a question and answer session.
  • Charles and Gail Blunt

Chuck is off fishing but I am planning on coming to the Flag Day event. For someone who is pretty Asheville dumb-- can you give me the names of the cross streets I want for the Citizens Bank parking lot? Gail
  • Larry Porter

I wear a large. What do the shirts cost? I'll be glad to add some to that. I haven't been in Asheville proper for some time. I know there is a motel down Patton a ways but I don't recall a bank. I don't know the business you talk about. In any event, it isn't that long so I'll find it, I'm sure. 1:30 would be fine by me.
  • Larry Porter

That's great news, Marcia. We're setting up starting at 4:30. Yes, we will have a table for you. We are hoping for over 100 people. The place holds 300. Bring others with you, if you can. Can you broadcast to all the people on your site? You don't have to come so early. Around 5:15 to 5:30 would be fine. Our show is about two hours long. We'll have a 15 minute break half-way through so the people with information can talk to people as they go out for a
break. It's going to be a great time. Thanks for coming.
  • Jeffrey Gilmore

Actually I have some friends out in that area of the country and I was hoping to steer them your way. JG
  • Larry Porter

Good. I'll be there a little early to help you set up then I can stay until about 4 or so. BTW we are meeting Tim in Canton at the Sagebrush Steakhouse off exit 33 (I think) at i PM on Aug. 4. Anybody is welcome to come to that one. We'll have much more room. Then he'll be down in Hendersonville at 6:30 as planned. We want to get as many mock selection exercises as possible in while he's here. See you Friday.
  • Miki Booth

My handouts include my address for folks without internet. I'm calling my effort, "OK, Let's GOOOH"
Good luck with all your efforts.
  • Marilyn Rickert

Thanks for catching the error, I passed the message on to our designer.

    Marilyn
  • Taylor Wells

Hi Laura- Just wanted to pass along a petition against Obamacare: http://www.youcanstopobama.com
  • Shane Stewart

    Hi,
I'm a freshman at NCSU and I am trying to get a rally started on my campus. do you have any tips or pointers for me?
  • Jim Tomasik

    I've got your message.

I'm going through the questions on goooh now...
  • Jim Tomasik

    I like it a lot.

I'm thinking about going to one of his mock candidate selection forums on the 9th or getting him to do one for us in Memphis.

He and I talked on the phone for a bit. He said that 80% of the people who were registered on his site supported FairTax.
  • Shane Stewart

yes thank you very much. I am currently in the process of getting a students for fair taxation club organized on campus to get more man power behind my rally and gain access to the campus for fairtax programs. I may in the future consult your wisdom again. Thank you for your support.
  • Billie

Hi Laura, I saw your comments on Jim's page about GOOOH. I think it will work; but in the Dayton, OH area it still is at a stand still. How are you making out? Billie in Beavercreek
  • Art Garst

Hi Laura- I think your brother, Jim, is my neighbor. I've been on your email list since Bel Chere and believe a consumption tax is the first step toward a real answer to America's broken system. I'll make a monthly meeting as soon as a soccer practice is cancelled on that day, and I'll help where I can. Now all I do is advertise the idea.
  • Miki Booth

    Hi Laura!
Thanks for everything you are doing for Tim and GOOOH. I'm going to help him out in Arizona.. seems there will be a huge event like 1,000 or so and doing candidate selection sessions for hundreds.
    Keep up your GREAT work!
  • Bob Martin

We'd sure appreciate that. What do you need from us? My address is 10634 24th Ave, Eau Claire, Wi 54703 Thanks, Bob Martin
  • Bob Martin

Thanks Laura! We'll put them to good use. Have a number of state TEA parties coming up.
  • Shane Stewart

its going pretty good Im almost done with my first semester at college. but the the fair tax group didn't work so well. I had to start a club to get access to the campus, but I just couldn't get enough people involved or interested. especially since running it in joint with the democrat and republican clubs got shot down, on both sides, and i had to find students specifically interested in the fairtax. it was a sad wakeup call but I have not given up ill let it sit until I can get some funds raised and then ill see what a little campaigning can do for the club and maybe before i graduate I can bring a rally to NCSU. (crossing my fingers)
  • Scott Babcock

Thanks Laura. Yes, I've been silently taking them in, some reading more thoroughly than others. I did see some activity with new candidates to run on the GOP ticket. I currently do not put much stock in the local GOP's endorsement of the Fairtax, among other far-from-reality dream bills for they are as beholden to their friends as the Democrats at the higher offices, and I believe there are hidden agendas at the local levels, GOP as well as Democrats. Holding on to the status quo. Some might actually share the sentiment, but I believe some are dead set against it as they want to get to D.C. to get their goodies just like the last guy. The FairTax puts a stop to the primary reasons they raise millions for a congressional campaign and even more for senate seats. hehe.. :) I'm just a ray of sunshine this morning. Sorry. I just see an uphill battle that must be forced into play by the will of the people.. This will be the ONLY way, I believe.

That said, if enough at one time infiltrate and win house seats, that would be a great opportunity for at least media push. Because of other reasons, poor Carl was so unelectable. The illegal alien business and anti-drug push made him look like a racist. Heath didn't even have to work hard against those.

So at local district forums, pushing the topic in front of potential candidates with force of a large perceived voter base, is a very good thing. Open expression of the will of the people as perceived by potential candidates is pretty important I think.

I'd be interested in reasons why those chosen were no-shows.. From their own mouths, on the record.

.. Sorry, too much French Roast this morning. Nice to hear from you again.
    Scott
  • Scott Babcock

Also.. Appears I have two accounts by mistake.. My own. I'll probably have to kill one. I guess the one less established with contacts, etc.
  • Mark B H

Yes, we must replace much of congress with regular "statesman". I plan on going to Asheville tomorrow to meet with members...I think I saw you will be there at 7pm? Right?
  • Steven Haertel

Laura, I have already RSVP'ed for the event - am I missing something?
  • Mike Anthony Fernald Sr.

    Thanks Laura

I met Chuck & Mike Huckabee in NH when Mike H was campaigning, I have been tring to email them both to see if they would speak at the rally, Sean Fagan said if I can get Chuck to come on the 15th he would pay my way there other wise I will not be able to make it. winter, work & the economy have been very unkind to my Family this year.

    But I have hope :O}
    Can you Carry a sign on my behalf :O}
  • Mike McLean

    Hey Laura,

I can pick up either later today or tomorrow morning. I will call you later to arrange

    Mike
  • Lucille Morea

    Hi Laura,
Thank you for your messages inviting us to your meetings. Things are really tight right now, what with my husband's company not doing any business since we got our new "hope and change" As soon as we can, we will come to one of your meetings.

    Lucy
