With just a short four day notice we were able to assemble eight members of our group (four from districts other than Frelinghuysen's) to attend the Frelinghuysen town hall meeting in Somerville on Saturday morning. The purpose of our effort was to make the FairTax presence known & felt by Congressman Frelinghuysen - in this regard we were very successful & I believe that we should concentrate our efforts on every future town hall meeting that is scheduled in any district. All District Directors should try to get such a schedule & notify our group accordingly.

Every person that entered the meeting room was given a FairTax pocket card - so just from this standpoint alone 75 to 100 people who are active enough to attend such a meeting have now heard of the FairTax. In addition once the Congressman took my question which was geared to educate the audience he was surprised to take two more questions from members of our group who were not wearing FairTax shirts & were not sitting with the main FairTax contingent. But best of all was when the final question came from a man who I had never seen before who also made his endorsement to the FairTax felt to what I regard as the shock of the Congressman.

After the meeting several people came up to all of our representatives in signs of support for the FairTax. Congressman Frelinghuysen certainly noticed this also which also was part of our agenda.

Although Congressman Frelinghuysen made bogus arguments as to why he is not going to sign on now as a cosponsor of HR 25 he left the meeting room with Carol walking him down the hall continuing our message. All of this had to do some good.

The Congressman agreed to a briefing in his office & I talked to & picked up the card of his scheduler to arrange such a briefing @ which time it is hoped that we can correct some of his economic & tax misconceptions & also learn what his real reluctance is to becoming a FairTax cosponsor.
