Hi Natalie. Funny you ask about breast cancer awareness. A number of years ago I was the producer of a stage musical which focused on breast cancer and, specifically, on procedures for early detection. It was distributed under a grant from the State of Ohio Health Department and toured the state in the mid 80s. I have appeared on local television on several occasions promoting mammography and regular self testing procedures. Most responsible medical organizations, not all unfortunately, offer excellent informational material on the subject. The key is success in reducing this to a nuisance rather life threatening disease is (1)absolutely go through regular screening and (2)getting women to either perform self examination or have a loved on do it for them. The process is very simple....I've heard of mothers teaching their children to do her exams so they can learn for themselves how the procedure works.
