Boortz Project On FairTax Nation -- A Grassroots idea

Hi Marilyn,

I enjoyed talking to you earlier today about how to implement our Boortz project now that the "Local Leaders" section of the website is expected to be down for quite some time.

As I mentioned to you Doug Dash, my wife Carol, & I were planning to personally contact (preferrably by telephone) local leaders in areas where The Neal Boortz Radio Program is not heard to see if we could generate interest in FairTax supporters contacting radio stations to see if the program could be added to the station lineup.

As an alternative you suggested that you would put the idea on FairTax Nation. Below is a message that we were planning to send to any interested local leaders as a guide. Time is of the essence if we want to use the O'Reilly going off the air angle. Please feel free to use any of this message as you see fit on FairTax Nation. Also you can refer anyone that shows interest directly to me if they have any questions.

"There is a direct link between the listening area where The Neal Boortz Radio Program is heard & congressional co-sponsorship of HR 25 The FairTax Act of 2009. Neal regularly talks about the FairTax on his radio program & in fact the great majority of FairTax volunteer leaders all over the country first learned about the FairTax through Neal's program. AFFT is very pleased with Neal's obvious endorsement of the FairTax even though AFFT can not & does not officially endorse Neal's radio program.

The listening area totals about 5 million people who obviously have talked to their congressmen about the FairTax - hence the congressional support in these districts.

It is important that we have a breakthrough for the FairTax in parts of the country where Neal's show is currently not widely heard. In this regard Bill O'Reilly has announced that in about a month he is discontinuing his radio program heard on about 400 stations across America which gives us an excellent opportunity.

Acting as an individual & not an official FairTax representative please write to (local leader should select station or stations) & ask them to add The Neal Boortz Radio Program to their lineup - either live or tape delayed. The letter does not have to be any longer than the simple request to add Neal's program to their lineup & really does not even have to mention the FairTax.

We have a FairTax page on myspace and facebook. We have groups on meet-up too.

The total we have under the green square is updated often. There may be a way for the computer to do it, but I have not figured that out yet. We are only 5 weeks old and have a lot to learn.

Yes that is what I was thinking. Your suggestion re: the green square requires that I add everyone under there. Isn't there a way for the computer to do that?

Hi Bruce!

Since we are working toward 1,000 members per state, we should be listing the states and how many members are from each state. Is that what you are thinking about or something different??

On the Main page, in small print under the green square we have the total number of members. Some couples have joined together so we add the extra person to the count on the "members" page.

Also is there a way to link this to facebook.com and myspace.com and others like it?

Marilyn, I am also new to the Fairtax Nation and would like to become involved in spreading the word. Something occured to me while reading your blog and the comment about the map. Could we also have something that would aggregate the number of members of those groups that are affiliated with you so that we could count the membership?

That is an interesting idea. I will discuss it with our "tech" guys. Our goal is to have at least 1,000 active volunteers in each state. That will give us a base of 50,000. We want to be too big to ignore!

To find others from your state click on the "members" tab then search CA. You can also try the "advanced search" I hope you join your state group. Just click on "groups" and search CA.

Enjoy the site!

Marilyn, I've very excited to be a part of FairTax Nation. This is something I've been interested in for quite a long time! Going along with your idea to have members in all states, is it possible to have a map on this site that shows where members live?

The important part of the Constitutional Convention is the wording must be exactly alike in every state. I am still waiting for the language. Lyn Williamson, who is on this group, is working on the details. Perhaps she can give you more information.

Marilyn,
Is this Boortz Project his suggestion for a Constitutional Convention petition to be presented to each State Leglislation? Has such a petition been drafted so that all states will have the same wording? Where can we get a copy?

Florida legislature starts a 60 day session the first week of March. We need to start getting signatures NOW. If it is not done by the first part of May, we lose a year! I am sure other states have a similar problem.
