Replace All Federal Taxes on Income with the Fair Tax Act , HR 25

Let's Go On the OFFENSIVE !! - Here's an Idea!

The following is not a new idea, but I believe it would be a new idea for the Fair Tax grassroots movement, and once we put our twist on it and refine the efforts, I believe could very well be something that could set this movement ablaze across the entire United States in a very short period of time.
Here's the thought; Everyone involved in the presidential races over the past few years has seen the efforts of these candidates to put together "neighborhood" block parties for their particular candidates, and it's worked out very well for those candidates.
Our Fair Tax twist on this should look something like this; Many of us have been involved in manning a Fair Tax booth at local Fairs, events, etc. This has been an o.k. thing for us and as far as a passive approach goes and has worked out fairly well.... But What if ? .... These same groups of people strategically Target different areas of their city or area with a Fair Tax offensive operation? It would look something like this:
#1.) Select an area of your city or area where you would like to get Fair Tax support cranked up. Make it an area where your group of core Fair Tax supporters can effectively cover on foot over a 2 to 3 week period. Possibly a neighborhood of 500 to 600 homes or something similar. You will be the best equipped to tell how large an area you can effectively cover.
#2.) Select a location for a Neighborhood Fair Tax Meeting ( Church, School, Community Center, Club House, Someone's Home, Etc.)
#3.) Select a date for the Meeting of 3 to 4 weeks out from when you intend to start your operation.
#4.) Print up Fair Tax Door Hanger, Flyers, and any other materials you may want to post on doors, paperboxes, etc.
#5.) BEGIN THE OPERATION (3 to 4 weeks before the meeting) - Set a date and time for all supporters to meet in that neighborhood to begin your first canvassing of the area with your flyers, etc. Passively meet neighbors as your able, talk up the Meeting date you've set, etc.
#6.) Your second Canvassing of the area (2 weeks before the meeting) - Pass out a second round of flyers, meet more neighbors, and promote the meeting.
#7.) Third and Final canvassing (1 week or couple days before the meeting) - Final trip around the neighborhood with flyers, post signs where able about the meeting (at stores in the area, library, on corners, etc.)
#8.) HOLD THE NEIGHBORHOOD FAIR TAX EVENT; Plan this event to be both festive and informational. You could plan activities for the children of parents who might attend. Offer some sort of Food and Drinks, and just generally come up with things that would make this a fun, informative event.
- Call the meeting to order
- Give a brief explanation of the Fair Tax and Why we believe it's important for EVERYONE to consider it's benefits.
- Show The Fair Tax Video
- More Explanation if needed
- Pass around or direct those in attendance to where they can sign up to Support, Volunteer, Donate, Help promote the next of THESE type meetings, etc.
- Answer any questions and discuss any concerns

It will be Critical to try to identify a potential "Leader" for that particular community so that they can gather all like minded supporters from that meeting and help to continue their education and organize future supporting efforts in that particular community.

It would also be critical to identify additional volunteer to help grow THESE types of meetings...EXPONENTIALLY.

We are attempting to put together the first of these such events here in Summerville, South Carolina in the next few weeks. I am quite certain that the details will evolve and streamline themselves as we learn any additional do's and dont's over time.

I originally thought that this could be a roving monthly meeting for our area, but as the thought develops I see no reason why this could not grow exponentially as new leaders in each area have been recruited, trained, tied into the State Leadership, and then those leaders maintain the groups in their neighborhoods. As new groups are formed and volunteers added, more and more areas of the city can be targeted and new groups formed.

PLEASE... I encourage others to add their thoughts and suggestion to this Idea as I would love to see it take hold and spread across the entire country.

Jim,
I KNOW this will work, it's just a matter of getting it cranked up. I'm confident that when people do they will see amazing results. At our last Summerville area meeting we had an elderly couple attend (probably in their 70's) who traveled from North Charleston (20 to 25 minute drive). When this topic came up they said that they had SEVERAL friends who would love to be able to attend a meeting but it's just too far and the time didn't work out, etc. They said that if they had a meeting in their neighborhood it would be much more convenient and could get their friends and neighbors to attend. This will be a perfect opportunity for us to target a neighborhood, set up a meeting, and begin a NEW base of support in another part of the Charleston Metro Area.

This might be something we'd try during the summer, but walking around neighborhoods during the winter in Ohio is NOT a fun idea. Other then that, it sounds workable. I think you need to have the regular meetings as well though. They give people a dependable place to be/go to bring interested friends, or to "show the flag" in an area.

I like this idea.

It took me a few times to read through it but I'm thinking it is do-able. I think there are a lot of people out there who might already know what FairTax is and like to see a meeting crop up.

I might try this myself after the CPAC thing.

Another Point to consider with this strategy; If active Fair Tax groups across the country were to turn to this strategy and begin to lay out a plan to target as many areas as possible in Congressional Districts where we do not currently have a Fair Tax Co-Sponsor, these meetings could immediately begin to increase the pressure on these Congressmen and create phone calls and letters directly from their constituency, where there may have previously been NONE!

There is absolutely nothing wrong with all of the Fair Tax booths that we have been doing in the past. HOWEVER, as most of you know, the results are like blasting things with a shot-gun...very scattered. If your booth is at a fair or another large conference or event, you end up with names and numbers from all over the place and it's very hard to convey the same excitement and purpose that a meeting of 50 people from the same voting precinct would walk away from an event like this with. Can you just Imagine what your congressman would be thinking if tomorrow he began receiving 50 Phone Calls and Letters from a group of people in his Districts. If your able to continue this in precinct after precinct in his area, in very short order he or she would begin to be overwhelmed by Fair Tax supporting calls and mail.
Again, my initial plan was to do this as our roving monthly Fair Tax meeting, but I don't see any reason that once you have a "template" of how to put these together, and volunteers to help you pass out flyers, etc. in the targeted neighborhoods, you couldn't target several neighborhoods a month. It would all depend on the size of organization you have in your area.

Anyone with suggestions, ideas, or even concerns, please share!

An Additional Note on this idea. Although I run our State website here in South Carolina www.scfairtax.org , I am not any kind of web or computer guru, so if there are is anyone out there who has pointers or can help on the following ....please let me know!
The political campaigns that I've see run these types of events have also had a section of their websites dedicated to helping plan, promote, and map, all of these events. They have had a Support page so that anyone willing to put these events on would have a basic format for the meetings, printable flyers, door hangers, and other advertising help and ideas. These web pages have also had an web form so that the individual or group could apply to host one of these meetings and in turn I'm sure that political campaigns gained very useful data to add to their support databases. Our efforts may be a bit different, but the basic designs of this kind of web site support would be very helpful and encouraging to groups putting this type of an event together.
Anyway, this could be a longer term objective, but if we had the ability emulate these examples from the campaigns, I believe it would be very helpful to Fair Tax supporters everywhere.

As stated I will begin working on these types of support guidelines and materials for our efforts here in South Carolina, but it would be nice if we had some kind of National effort to do the same. The GREAT challenge will be effectively tying everything back into the local and state leadership so that effective speakers and additional help can be provided when necessary.

Just more thoughts! Thanks All !!!
