Replace All Federal Taxes on Income with the Fair Tax Act , HR 25

Melody Scalley the Eastern Shore VA-100th District Candidate is in favor of the Fair Tax!

I just want to thank Jim Arab for sending this letter to the editor to refute misinformation that was stated by an Eastern Shore Community College teacher in regard to the Fair Tax:

FairTax group states its case
To the editor:

Regarding the article, "ESCC professor disputes political rally on campus," published Wednesday in the News, I wish to respond to Eastern Shore Community College Faculty Senate President Bill McCarter's negative comments about the pending legislation, HR25/S296, called "The FairTax," and its impact on higher education.

The FairTax abolishes the Internal Revenue Service and replaces the current federal income tax with a revenue-neutral national retail sales tax, a consumption tax.

The key words are "revenue neutral." The FairTax changes how taxes are collected, not how much is collected. Under The FairTax, there is no reduction in federal spending for higher education, or any other program.

If McCarter had concerns about The FairTax, I wish he would have stopped by our table. It would have been my pleasure to fully explain The FairTax to him and answer all of his concerns.

Unlike a typical sales tax, The FairTax is progressive; it contains a "prebate" mechanism that protects the poor; does not punish production; provides real economic stimulus; is simple; transparent; and fair.

The FairTax is easy to understand. The full legislative text is only 131 pages and a 36-page plain-language summary is available at fairtax.org. Compare that to over 65,000 pages of complex and confusing IRS rules and regulations.

The FairTax is true tax reform and I encourage all of your readers, to learn more about The FairTax and Americans For Fair Taxation at fairtax.org; the social networking site fairtaxnation.org; and the countless other FairTax informational sites and resources on the web.

I NEED YOUR SUPPORT! I am running for the VA-100th HOD - can you spare $5., $10., $50.? The election is November 3, just a few quick months away. Let's get some Common Sense back into politics!
