Replace All Federal Taxes on Income with the Fair Tax Act , HR 25

The Root Cause - Taxation Without Representation

Whether it's govt spending of earmarks, gun rights, mandates in education, trade deficits - any issue today comes back to Taxation Without Representation. Americans are waking up to the fact that their elected officials no longer listen to them. With a little research the reason is clear. Congressmen are elected 90% by lobbyist funds. They pay back those lobbyists with our tax dollars in the form of earmarks. We cannot fight off every assault on our individual liberties - they can pass more laws than we collectively have time to learn about and then to fight. We need to change the equation so they only pass laws we want.

The only legislation in congress to start to change that equation is the FairTax. It sends 50% of the lobbyists home because there are no deductions for congressmen to give them. The other group with the clear goal of clearing out lobby-funded politicians is the Independence Caucus at ourcaucus.com Using a proven strategy, they have programs to let politicians know if they use lobby money, they will lose their seat. Their next program is called Big Stick Tea Party. They are collecting tea bags with names attached to send simultaneously to congressmen when they reach at least 1000 per congressmen. This program is well organized. The teabags come with a clear message to every congressmen that at least 1000 of their constituents understand the lobby game and will work to vote them out if they receive lobby funding.

I hope this group will work with FairTax.org and Ourcaucus.com to organize for the change we need to prevent this federal mess from ever happening again.

This is the message I am taking to all tea parties, we surround them groups, gun rights groups, political party groups. This is the heart of our message

I'm still learning about the Ind Caucus, but they have an excellent tea party strategy. They are planning on collecting 1000 per representative (525 reps) with name, address, email of the 1000 of their constituents to be delivered on the same time on the same day with the video. The message is that we're on to you and we're taking our country back. They're calling this the Big Stick Tea party.

Dave, every video shows something new that will just sicken you at how perverted the lobbyist/politician relationship is. They show the ways politicians get paid off, both legally and illegally.

I joined Independence Caucusafter watching the first video. (I've still only watched 2) because they have hit the nail on the head. I devote all of my time to the Fair Tax and more specifically Fair Tax Nation but at the root of what they are doing is what i had determined sometime ago-get rid of most of the DC bums. Almost every challenger to an incumbent candidate tries to stress how Washington has change the incumbent. It is all about the lobbyist money. The Fair Tax will basically put the lobbyist out of business that gives us a commonality. They want to put the government back in the hands of the people. That is what we want. People to control when they pay their taxes. Just my 2 cents. If I find we differ I'll drop them (I have others). I've been with AFFT for 9 years, they have proven to be the real deal and still have 100% of my support.

Bill, I'm on the same page. If you sign up at Ind Caucus, you get more info in the form of a canned response, but most of the info that was what I needed I gleaned from a conference call I was invited to. The leader of the group was interested in personally emailing me when i told him I was working with AFFT on a project. I just emailed him back about more info about his group and why they don't have FairTax by name on their site. I've gotten just enough info to make me very intrigued. The videos are great for many americans who are currently focusing on symptoms, not the underlying cause. If I get further positive info on this group, I'm going to run with it - it's the only other group (besides FairTax) that has a strategy to combat lobbyist dollars.
I think their main problem right now is that they're new. They are not even in all 50 states yet. They don't have the manpower to keep up with their growth. If they're the real deal, we could make some real synergy. I'll keep posting what I learn about them.

Carol,

I agree with the premise behind the blog. I do have some concerns about advancing the Independece Caucus though. First of all, most people have limited time. I hope they spend as much time as possible advancing the FairTax. I think the videos themselves are great. They help illustrate another reason the FairTax would change the course of the nation.

There are perhaps ways that FairTax supporters can work with them without losing focus on the FairTax, but that would depend on whether they supported the FairTax.

Other than joining my state organization, there is no contact information on the site and no information about who is behind it. My main issue is the FairTax, I'm not ready to join an organization until I know their tax position. If they came out for a dual (both income and sales) tax system for example that included some provisions they felt would control lobbyists, I just couldn't support it.

I'm not in Heritage Foundation for the same reason...i.e they throw all their support behind a flat income tax as if the only problem with an income tax is the rate isn't flat enough. Imho, the FairTax is simply the single most important legislation for the good of the nation.

Anyway, I'm not knocking them; I just don't know enough about them. Do you have contact information for the people that organized the group?

The whole thrust of the Independence Caucus is to elect politicians who are responsive to their constituents who get them elected - not lobbyists. The first videos show how our congressmen are funded by lobbyists and with their money, almost always win. The Ind. Caucus mission is to oust reps who insist on staying in the game with lobbyists.

I've communicated with the Ind. Caucus and they support the FairTax as is... they are just approaching the same problem from the other end - getting politicians out of office who won't support budget and tax reform that are needed to kill the way lobbyists are interceding in our govt.

Carol,

I didn't see where they had addressed the tax lobbying side yet. I only skimmed the last video describing spending solutions though since I didn't expect to find a reference to their tax recommendations there. Have they told you they support a sales tax as a full replacement for the current system? (Not a combination).

The FairTax indeed does fix the taxing lobbying side of the problem, and it goes a long way towards fixing the spending side. Once the FairTax is passed, every American will visibly and equally become a stakeholder in government spending. No American will support waste.

Here is a hot link to Independence Caucus. This group is NON-partisan btw hence Independence Caucus. Go watch the videos. Our time has come.
