To all of you who work endlessly to get the FairTax passed into law. I want to thank you and give you something positive if you ever become discouraged.
I'm from Atlanta, I listened to the Neal Boortz show daily. I remember Neal Boortz talking about the Fairtax in 2002 and all the while thinking "they will never pass this". I actually voted for Congressman Linder. I remember thinking, if I didn't vote for him that would kill the Fairtax thing. I remember back in 2003, my friend at work filling out his 2002 income taxes and complaining about how complicated it was this year just because he decided to earn a little extra money. And now, they were punishing him by making him pay extra taxes and not to mention the complexity of it all. We got to talking about the Fairtax and we both said "I can't wait until they pass that new Tax Thing." (Like it was going to be next year.) Also, I remember back in 2003, The Fairtax.org website. It was not like it is now. I referred to it as "Rinky-Dink". Maybe that's a southern word.
My life was changing so, along with a move to north east Ohio. I fell out of contact with the Fairtax around 2003. While at work, a lady told me she saw "Fairtax.org" written on a dollar bill. I remembered the Fairtax and told her all about it. I came home, I typed "Fairtax.org" into the computer. I COULD NOT BELIEVE IT!!! THE FAIRTAX WAS EVERYWHERE!!! The site was different. The Fairtax was all over You-Tube, a Presidential candidate supporting the Fairtax on the national stage. I JUST COULDN'T BELIEVE IT!!! I'm sorry I missed all the primary debates and Gov. Huckabee explain the Fairtax on the national stage. And also, the HR 25 bill didn't even exist in 2002. To see the bill, and to see 72 cosponsors for the bill. UNBELIEVABLE!!! I'm absolutely blown away at how big the Fairtax has become!
Sometimes you can't see something growing when you are close to it, but step back a little and you will view it in a whole new light. The Fairtax is growing, and unlike my thoughts in 2002, and it will be here soon. Not a doubt in my mind.
