I received this today:
Earlier today, a bipartisan coalition -- including every House Republican -- voted against a trillion-dollar government spending bill that we do not believe is the right approach to getting our economy back on track. In fact, House Republicans developed our own plan that would cost half as much as create more than six million jobs by the end of 2010 – 246,000 of those jobs would be in Ohio.
Our legislation was rejected for a 1,071-page bill that was given to lawmakers barely 12 hours before we voted. Worse, though, is that the entire House of Representatives voted on Tuesday for a new rule that would require legislation be posted online so that you can read it for a full 48 hours before we vote. That’s the kind of accountability and transparency House Republicans believe you deserve.
You deserve to know that the bill will use your tax dollars to buy electric golf carts for the federal government. You deserve to know that the bill will spend $300 million to hybrid cars for the federal government. You deserve to know that the bill will make available to the Association of Community Organizers for Reform Now (ACORN) one billion of your tax dollars. And you deserve to know that the bill spends $50 million for an arts endowment and $165 million for fish hatcheries.
I believe you deserve better than this.
