FairTax and Wealth Envy

It occurred to me that maybe when we start taxing the "acquisition of stuff" (via a national sales tax), maybe "wealth envy' and "class warefare" might drop. Does this make sense? That is, once we get the FairTax, people will look at their neighbors and realise that for all the stuff they've got, the proportional amount of money was given to the Federal Government.
