> Jim, How will contributions be collected for this event? I'll send a bit toward it. Cary
send it thru the donate button to the right and mark it for this event.
I hate to be a killjoy, but I think expending scarce resources to exhibit at this convention will be a waste of time and money. This NAACP is committed to big government. Its benefactors in Congress, including Charlie Rangle, would oppose the FairTax with their last dying gasp.
I heard that same arguement about CPAC and the DailyKos event a while back. Both proved not to be the case.
Pat,

I have to agree with Jim - what better way is there to demonstrate our "non-partisan" position on the FairTax than by attending an event where we expect to find a whole bunch of democrats? I honestly believe the only thing really stopping house democrats is the queen. If these same house democrats start hearing from their constituents that they want the FairTax, they may start fearing for their jobs and they know the queen doesn't elect them.
Jim,

What's the deadline for registration?

I won't be able to attend but I can throw a few bucks in for the cause.
Team,

We absolutely must engage the NAACP and through every possible opportunity. As the Co-District Director in the Florida Panhandle for the Florida FairTax Educational Association, our local team is laying out a strategy to target the centers of gravity (COGs) for activism and producing results in this country and at the head of that list is the NAACP. Also among our targeted COGs are colleges and universities, the Democrat Party and its various ancillary groups, and high school civics programs. These groups are the other half of the equation that must be reeled in so that we may possibly achieve the results we desire - to have H.R. 25 or S.296 passed into law. They, the Democrats and NAACP, represent the other half, maybe greater than half, of the political interest in this country and the future of this country too that resides in our high schools, colleges and universities. To exclude them will be a very serious error and potentially set FairTax up for a division that will never bring our goal to fruition. These organizations must be approached and done so in the most respectful means possible in order that we may bring them a message that will be received with open minds. If you want to get the Democrats attention, tell them that the current income tax and its burden on them is the direct result of Republican philosophy and actions. It was the Republican President Abraham Lincoln that passed the first Federal income tax and tax withholding on Federal employees into law in 1861 and again in 1862, though it was abolished by 1872. It was Republican President Theodore Roosevelt whose disdain for those who inherited wealth rather than earning it through "a life of labor" rekindled the concept for an income tax following an earlier U.S. Supreme Court ruling that struck down income tax because it violated apportionment when such income included leases and rents on property. And it was Republican President Howard Taft that introduced the idea to Congress to create an amendment to the U.S. Constitution that would once and for all eliminate the obstacles to creating an income tax which could be seized from any source of income and without regard to apportionment as directed in Article I of the Constitution. It was only then that the Congress and the succeeding President, Democrat President Woodrow Wilson, was happy to oblige the Republicans and other progressives of the early 20th century by passing into law the 16th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

To continue to spend critcal resources on those you already have won over or know that you can easily influence otherwise is a very inefficient and ineffective use of your resources. To get the best results means doing what may seem the most difficult work, but it will ultimately achieve the greatest results.

I say yes to the NAACP engagement and I pledge my support to make it a success.

Respectfully,

Kerry
Bravo!
If you wish to contribute toward the booth for the NAACP, you can do it using the "donate" button on this site. Please list NAACP in the "purpose" box.

The great thing about the FairTax movement is just about everyone hates the income tax -- we just need to let them know there is a better way!

Thanks!

I believe we absolutely need to be there. The mere presence of Fair Tax will foster interest and indicate that Fair Tax support is alive and well, and growing every day.
Well done, Mr. Bowers! I have been wanting to engage some of those types for a while. I'm stuck at the house, do you have anything I could do over the computer? Perhaps if you had a list you could share w/ FTN we could help you more.

Either way, Godspeed!
