Replace All Federal Taxes on Income with the Fair Tax Act , HR 25

Glenn Beck just interviewed on his show Scott Hodge who is President of The Tax Foundation. Both stated they favor a flat tax on income over The Fair Tax because The Fair Tax will eventually create too many loopholes and exemptions on items purchased whereas a flat tax on income will eliminate loopholes and exemptions. Both clearly don't understand The Fair Tax will eliminate loopholes and exemptions created by lobbyists nor the history of the income tax that began as a flat tax and has evolved into the multi-tiered system we have today because of lobbyists. Both need to be educated. This needs to be addressed.

Here is an email sent to Glenn Beck that greeted him this morning!
Glenn,
You are a busy guy, and I understand that. The futility I speak of is in trying to get your attention. I wouldn’t even be opposed to a “Hi, how are you kiss my A**” in response to one of my emails. I’m a nobody and I will not advance your celebrity in any way, and maybe that’s the problem?

You know how when you are subjected to something that is either so outrageous or misrepresented that as you state "My eyes started to bleed." There was a segment on your show today with Scott A. Hodge, president of The Tax Foundation. As you were questioning him and conversing about the options we have between the FairTax and Flat Tax, my eyes started to bleed. It started when you asked Scott:

Glenn: “so help me out on this because this is the problem I have with the FairTax…if your going to another system there is going to be taxes on this, they are going to be doing the same thing that they are doing now they are going to say well this product should have special exceptions, this product is dangerous we should have more taxes on that, this product is only purchased by the rich so, I mean it’s the same game! Is it not?

Scott: “Absolutely! And we can see it in the states today…

Then he goes into a pontification using New York as a model saying “they don’t tax granola bars, but they do tax crunchy bars… MY EYES STARTED TO BLEED!

Neither one of you understand the whole concept of the FairTax. There are no exceptions to the tax on products or services. It is a 23% consumer tax on everything purchased whether goods or services. Nothing was addressed about how the FairTax eliminates employee withholding taxes, Social Security, Medicare taxes, and slams the door on lobbyists and politicians with special interests. There is no way the whole concept can be explained in this email. I won’t even elaborate on the Flat Tax because that truly is more of the same because we don’t address the problems with SS and Medicare and the welfare state we are becoming (or are).

I can’t believe The Tax Foundation was the expert witness for this segment whose mission statement is SIMPLICITY, TRANSPARENCY, STABILITY, NEUTRALITY and, GROWTH PROMOTION. After 72 years of working as a tax think tank my organization should have a solution to this tax problem, unless of course I am a part of the problem! I better be careful because Scott may be a good friend of yours, but like you profess, I tell it like it is. I’m not nearly as interested to find out when Tax Freedom Day is each year as I am at coming up with a system of taxation that actually meets the foundations mission statement. I am dumbfounded by the many statements and observations that Scott made while the two of you sat in front of reams of only a partial tax code.

Maybe I’ll be lucky today and you’ll read and respond to some of your emails on the plane to San Antonio. Have a safe trip and say hi to Davy Crockett for me!

I will continue to send this to Glenn every day until he responds!
Ron

Excellent! Please let us know if you receive a response.
I'll keep trying Dan, Thanks
Ron: What e-mail address did you use for Glenn Beck? I would also like to chalange him on this issue.
Hope I can call you Bob, I use me@glennbeck(dot)com. It's all I have! Thanks for viewing my comment.

Point taken. Unfortunately he is well read and the response I gave was intended to address specifically the points they both missed.

Glad you were critical though because it gave me an idea. His show format is nothing like O'Rileys. Beck likes people that agree with him, not challenge him. There is something more to this though because my emails don't even get the automated response as they once did.

Could someone please try a short email to see if his system responds with the automated response? I may be shut out.

Thanks.
The Glen Becks of the world wants you screaming at the TV or radio. It matters not the message he sends as long as he creates the environment that leads people to the discovery of the FairTax. George Bush at the Republican national convention used phrases and terminology of the FairTax. But, never used the word FairTax. At least NOW people are using the WORD. I celebrate. It's great to finally be on the tax bebate stage! We still have to educate one person at a time.
John,
Actually World News Daily has been soft on FairTax and I believe it is because Joseph Farah might be stuck on Flat Tax. I really pitched FairTax in a forum WND had because in a poll it made reference to a national sales tax. Many responses in the forum brought up FairTax. That's encouraging.
Ron
Ron,
You are my hero. I would also like to thank everyone, whether you attended, promoted or even held dear in your heart the TAX DAY TEA PARTIES. I can remember going to these kind of events and only finding a hand full of people in attendance. In your pitch, you need to remember that the FairTax is the ultimate Flat Tax. I have been pitching for years and I have never seen the interest in this subject as I do today. People are starting to look for solutions. It's very encouraging.
Thanks
John
As soon as I heard Glenn and Scott on the show I sent an email to Glenn telling him that the Fair Tax bill as it now states a sales or consumption tax would be the same percentage on all new goods and services and it would eliminate loopholes and exemptions and keep our congress on the straight and narrow. I told him that he could not have made his statement if he had indeed read the bill and encouraged him to go online at www.fairtax.org and read it. The flat tax does not eliminate the IRS nor does anything to encourage business to expand much less bring business back to the US as the Fair Tax does. Admittedly, the bill has to be passed as it is written now with nothing changed nor pork added. I think all of us should let Mr. Beck know that he is wrong about Fair Tax. Carol

Folks, I think there is something more here... and, unfortunately, it's political.

If the FairTax becomes all the rage... which 2012 would-be presidential candidate would receive the biggest boost from it? The guy that promoted it so heavily in the 2008 primaries... HUCKABEE (who, I hope becomes president in 2012).

Now, who are all of the talk-show hosts behind? Romney. Remember, Bain Capital (Romney's former firm) acquired Clear Channel Communications (owner of the big talk-radio contracts) in 2007 ahead of Mitt tossing his name into the 2008 ring.

I guess you could say that if it weren't for Huckabee being in the way that Mitt could take credit for the FairTax and the conservative talking heads would get fully on board. That would be great for the FairTax but I am not a Romney fan because I feel he is too beholden to BIG Money Special Interests. I am a BIG fan of Huckabee because it is clear that the only interests he is beholden to is our common interests.

My 2 cents...
