Post messages regularly to CraigsList.org, in the Politics or Events catagories. I just posted one on CraigsList.org Hampton Roads Virginia (southeast) area, that reads:
Overhaul the Income Tax System
Or should I say "Replace the Federal Tax Sysytem"? Since 1913, the federal income tax system has grown to 67,000 pages. Corporations pay for experts to explain and advise, as much as $900 per person in the US. We each spend 20 to 24 hours gathering our receipts and forms each year for our tax expert to complete our taxes. Since corporate taxes are simply added to retail prices, American companies are encouraged to set up overseas to avoid having to charge high prices.
It's time to consider a total replacement of the way we collect money for the federal government. Consider a simple sales tax, since all taxes eventually ride through the system to retail sales, anyway. 22 percent of the money you spend on new items goes to pay someone ELSES income tax. Let's simply send that money straight to Uncle Sam, and avoid all the middle men overhead and complexity.
Take home pay won't go down, and prices shouldn't go up (unless take home pay increases). The overhead expense of collecting and enforcing taxes will drop mearly 90 percent. Again, that'll free up $900 per person, in the US. Illegals and criminals will no longer avoid paying taxes. The tax burden will be spread over more people than just you and me, honest tax payers.
But sales tax is regressive, you say? Then let's provide a prebate to every legal citizen, to "un tax" them, the amount they need to pay to live at the poverty level. That is, let's give back the poor every dime they pay in the retail sales tax. This will "un tax" the poor, but be negligible to the rich. Everyone is treated the same. No complexity.
