By Ken Hoagland,

"...Last year we borrowed about $160 billion from foreign lenders to send stimulus checks to taxpayers to spark consumption here. In the months leading up to April 15th, however, Americans paradoxically spent an estimated $300 billion on tax preparation costs. The FairTax eliminates these wasted tax system costs, spurs massive private investment and, perhaps most importantly, makes clear to every American the real cost of government promises and programs. In this, the FairTax may prove not to just be a better national tax system but the best way to both save our economy and provide badly needed medicine for our Republic. ..."

Ken makes excellent points. I posted the article over at FreeRepublic.com. It created considerable discussion.
I'm just amazed at how blind so many American's are to this.
I seriously think it is because they get a check back each year.

Well to them I say.....how about more money in your pocket, no filing any year and a check each month?
Huh?? HUH?!?!?!?

Yeah I thought you'd like that.

Too bad they aren't reading this.
Oh well....I'll have to find them and tell them one by one.

I'll be back later ;)
Thanks for the comparison. Start out w/ young folks, "how would you like to get a refund every month, take home your whole check"...
D. Hunt What other sites are you visiting? I am visiting conservatives of PA. Is there something just for GA?
A chemistry professor in a large college had some exchange students in the class. One day while the class was in the lab the Professor noticed one young man (exchange student) who kept rubbing his back, and stretching as if his back hurt.

The professor asked the young man what was the matter. The student told him he had a bullet lodged in his back. He had been shot while fighting communists in his native country who were trying to overthrow his country's government and install a new communist government. In the midst of his story he looked at the professor and asked a strange question. He asked, 'Do you know how to catch wild pigs?' The professor thought it was a joke and asked for the punch line. The young man said this was no joke.

'You catch wild pigs by finding a suitable place in the woods and putting corn on the ground. The pigs find it and begin to come everyday to eat the free corn. When they are used to coming every day, you put a fence down one side of the place where they are used to coming. When they get used to the fence, they begin to eat the corn again and you put up another side of the fence. They get used to that and start to eat again. You continue until you have all four sides of the fence up with a gate in The last side. The pigs, who are used to the free corn, start to come through the gate to eat, you slam the gate on them and catch the whole herd.

Suddenly the wild pigs have lost their freedom. They run around and around inside the fence, but they are caught. Soon they go back to eating the free corn. They are so used to it that they have forgotten how to forage in the woods for themselves, so they accept their captivity.

The young man then told the professor that is exactly what he sees happening to America . The government keeps pushing us toward socialism and keeps spreading the free corn out in the form of programs such as supplemental income, tax credit for unearned income, tobacco subsidies, dairy subsidies, payments not to plant crops (CRP), welfare, medicine, drugs, etc.. While we continually lose our freedoms -- just a little at a time.

One should always remember: There is no such thing as a free lunch! Also, a politician will never provide a service for you cheaper than you can do it yourself.

Also, if you see that all of this wonderful government 'help' is a problem confronting the future of democracy in America; you might want to send this on to your friends. If you think the free ride is essential to your way of life then you will probably delete this email, but God help you when the gate slams shut!

> This may not be exactly on subject here, but I thought it to be a good post.
We are very sad piggies. Good story for the kids. thanks. One for when their eyes roll over at the mention of the $10Trillion projected debt.
Ya know, it literally makes me ill when I think that my 8 wonderful grandsons and 1 beautiful great grandson are in debt already; just sick.

I was employed by our local non profit counseling center. I was the program coordinator for a program we developed with the local Jobs and Family Services. Know what I learned from my work at JFS? Many parents use their children's Social Security numbers and names to obtain utilities and other services, because the parents haven't paid their bill. Then, they don't pay the bill incurred for the service in their children's names. Result? These kids grow up and have a debt they never knew they owed. Not uncommon for them to find out when they apply for credit.

Why do I mention this? Because that's exactly what our federal government is doing to our children. Where's Thomas Jefferson when you need him? (she asked rhetorically)

The Fair Tax needs to be passed ASAP. It's the first and most important step we can take at this time. Also, the most attainable step.
