Tea Party Wins 2010 CPAC Ronald Reagan Award

Cincinnati, OH, February 23, 2010. Leaders of Cincinnati Tea Party Community Groups attending the Ronald Reagan Dinner at the 2010 Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Washington, D.C. were asked to stand along with other Tea Party members in the Marriott Ballroom Friday evening. These local Tea Party activists were honored by the announcement that they would be recipients of the annual Ronald Reagan Award. This award, CPAC’s highest honor, was created to recognize an exemplary conservative grassroots activist over the past year. This year the award was presented collectively to the nation’s tea party movement, embodied by all those who have participated in organizing rallies, attending town halls, and starting groups across the country. Other deserving candidates also considered for this year's award were Hannah Giles, for her heroic exposure of ACORN, and Dave Bossie of Citizens United.

The Ronald Reagan Award was symbolically accepted by Cincinnati area Community Tea Party leaders. In attendance were Gena Bell, Maggi Cook, Sheila Hancock, Adriana Inman, Katy Kern, Dave Kern, and Nita Thomas. David Keene, Chairman of the American Conservative Union, commented that “The Ronald Reagan award was not created for the generals of the conservative movement, but to the men and women working in the trenches who sacrificed, and in so doing set an example for others.”

About the Cincinnati Tea Party

The Cincinnati Tea Party, a grassroots nonpartisan group opposed to wasteful government spending, strives to achieve the core values of limited government, fiscal responsibility, and free markets. We encourage our members to become active in government by supporting like-minded candidates or running for office. Our goals include influencing elections for the betterment of America, promoting state sovereignty (Federalism), and compelling our elected officials to comply with the Constitution as written by our Founders. To accomplish our goals, the Cincinnati Tea Party:
· Fosters the Voice of Americans to be heard through rallies, forums, and town halls.
· Supports the Education of Americans for a better understanding of our Declaration of Independence, our Constitution, our Bill of Rights, and the authority granted to our government by the People.
· Impacts the Elections in America by encouraging virtuous American citizens to run for office at the local, county, and state levels so that the conservative American voice may be heard.

The Cincinnati Tea Party was founded by a group of lifelong Cincinnatians in February 2009. In April 2009, Community Tea Parties were launched to allow local leaders to spread the core values at the neighborhood level.

Gene Carroll did a great job leading the Cincinnati FairTax meeting last night (1/25). He began with a discussion about recent news relating to FairTax, such as Michael Reagan and candidates supporting the FairTax. With three new attendees, there was a FairTax overview. Gene then asked everyone to post notices of the next meeting on Feb. 25th at Krogers, libraries, and colleges. He also asked for ways to spread the word and suggestions were festivals, parades, post offices on 4/15, and combining efforts with the Tea Parties. Next Meeting: Thursday, February 25, 2010
Location: Sharonville Library, 10980 Thornview Drive
