This month's meetup, May 19th, is panning out to be another one you won't want to miss.

Kerry Bowers, also FFTEA Co Director, will be giving a Fair Tax presentation in Pensacola on the 19th, at a venue to be determined. That's where we will meet. You will be the first to know where it will be as soon as I do.

Meanwhile, please figure on bringing a guest(s) with you who is interested in the FairTax and wants to learn more, or just curious and wants to 'find out about it.' This meeting will be most informative, rating right up there with our March Meetup at Jerry's.

A comment I heard on some talk show today had to do with the partisan activity in recent years:
The opposing parties used to act like a marriage, after the elections. That meant that they disagreed, but still worked together for the country, with give and take.
Recently, they always act as if they are in a divorce, always fighting over the spoils.
I hope the passage of the FairTax will allow us to start to work together, again.

Stop the name calling. We are not going to use this site to insult one another.

First and Last Warning!

Actually, what I said was that I am a registered Republican. I'm actually an independent, but I don't register as such so I can vote in the primaries. The point I was trying to make last week is that as advocates for this particular reform, we should try to disassociate from political labeling. Obviously, that would be difficult for someone like Larry who feels qualified to peg me as a socialist because I agree with the president that we need energy, education and health care reforms. That's very classy.

Cody,
If you voted for and believe Obama is doing good, you are clearly a RINO. If you believe in socialism be honest and say so rather than saying you are a Republican when that cannot be the case.

I can't agree Linda that the FairTax is not political. It is political, just not partisan.
If it were not political we wouldn't be spending so much effort lobbying our representatives to cosponsor the legislation. Charlie Rangel wouldn't be holding the bill up in committee. Their stance not only illustrates that the FairTax is political but they are also making it partisan.

I'll probably be trashed for this, but I feel it is important for us all to think about...

I think the FairTax loses credibility when it is made out to be simply a Republican or conservative issue. Regardless of what anybody thinks of the stimulus, government spending, gun control, health care and all the other issues that were somehow tied to the TEA parties on tax day, the FairTax is meant to be a dollar for dollar replacement of how the federal government collects money - how the money is spent by the federal government is a separate beast.

I'm a registered Republican, I voted for Obama and so far, I am pleased with the job he is doing. I am very much on board with his agenda, but I still feel like the FairTax is the best way for our government to collect revenue.

It's important to remember what the FairTax is really about - and what it's not about. We should be making every effort not to alienate any part of the political spectrum.
