Would you like to form a cravan around Crest Hill/Joliet area after our meeting on May 9? I have some FairTax flags & signs.

Stephen Harris hopes the Tea Parties will instigate a real move to get H.R.25 passed. Stephen, you are part of a LARGE crowd. Several people at the Geneva, IL Tea Party (4 pm) had attended the Chicago downtown Tea Party at noon. We need to pass the Fair Tax in order to turn around the incentives given by our tax system. Taxing income encourages spending and debt. Taxing consumption encourages working and saving. Welcome aboard, Stephen!

Just joined the Fairtax movement today. I attended both Chicago Tea Partys and I can tell you the enthusiasm is high to do something. However, they lack a goal. Everyone is upset and wants change, but what change? The Fairtax is the answer. Perhaps it is finally time to get this logical and stright forward ledgislation passed. I'm hopeful the Tea Party's will lead to this eventuality!

As you may know there is a special election in the 5th Congressional District to replace Rahm Emanuel who is now Chief of Staff for President Obama. All 3 candidates could use some education on the FairTax. There names and websites are below. And tonight one of the candidates in having a Townhall meeting. Details below. The public is invited.

Rosanna Pulido for Congress – Republican Party

Matt Reichel for Congress – Green Party

When: 7 pm Saturday, March 21, 2009

Where: Chicago Patrolmen’s Federal Credit Union – 2nd Floor

Yes, I think we should stick to FairTax concerns on this site, buuut, if we can EFFECTIVELY plug into other related events, likes the Chicago Tea Party, I think we should take the opportunity to maximize our exposure. After all, our goal is to build a grassroots movement, and the only way to grow grass is to plant seeds in an already existing (ground) medium. If America sees FairTax signs popping up at events like this, won't this spark curiosity, questions, debate and create opportunities to talk about, and educate people, on the FairTax?

I DUNNO. IS FairTax holding any kind of gathering on April 15th? IS it called a "Tea Party"? Where is it? How many are expected to turn off the PC and get out? (5?-10?) The ONLY "Tea Party" I've heard of, is the one mentioned on CNBC, and from many other grassroots FairTaxers, that already has TV coverage, and what may be a thousand people with the theme of "taxes". SO WHAT there may be a few nut jobs there?--We are here to convert them! As far as I am concerned, anyone can skip it downtown, and not be noticed, nor have any chance of the FairTax being in HIGH visibility, with teeshirts, signs, and banners on TV. WE are the ORGANIZED issue maker, and WE can sway an event our way, --or, -- we can just shut out everybody who dares to hate the IRS, but hasn't heard enough about the FairTax to get on board. --FOR THE LIFE OF ME, I cannot understand why we throw away OPPORTUNITIES like this, just because of who arranged it. Maybe we should just once stop trying to re-invent tax protest, and SEE if it works before we trash another idea. Let's go HEAD to HEAD with the BEST tax plan, FairTax! "It's TIME!" Is this grassroots, or WHAT?

There are lots of events in the planning stages, perhaps we should stick to FairTax events on this site to avoid confusion?? What do you think?

...or maybe I misunderstood. Is FairTax holding a "Tea Party" in Chicago?
