In my opinion, the Fair Tax will give the government more than enough money to operate a substantial operation. :) The reason they oppose it is they lose the power to police the citizens. The IRS can be ruthless when they want to be. (Example: Sherry Jackson, ex-IRS agent, now in prison for speaking out.) They will fight it tooth and nail, but we are THEIR employer and boss, so let's show them.

I will give very strong consideration to Jeff Gregory if I ever get the feeling he's in this race for real. I'd like to see a little more action online from him and a mention of the FairTax on his website would be nice. He doesn't even have an "issues" page.

Yes, Rick. Candidate Gregory is the only Democrat in the state and possibly the union this time around who supports the FairTax.
I may have the dubious distinction of being the only person who has been in this situation twice in two different states. When I was the district director in FL10, Bill Young would pay us no mind. So I convinced his Democratic oponent to become a FairTax supporter. There were only a handful of Democrats nationwide who supported the bill then, and even fewer this term.
I'm sorry to say I have been barely active since moving because I have so much else going on. I've opened a small business and that takes about 70 hours every week.
I did meet Congressman McHenry at a private gathering right before the Forest City town hall and when i told him I used to stalk Bill Young about the FairTax, not only did he offer me a fist bump, but he then went on to explain to the Flat Tax advocate who'd just introduced us how much better the FairTax would be than the Flat Tax at bringing manufacturing back to NC and leveling the playing field.

I am Rick Woods fair tax director for the 5th district. I understand your district has the dubious honor of having the only Democrat that supports the fair tax and McHenry does not. McHenry needs to get onboard. If I were in your district I would give serious consideration to voting for him if he could convince me that he could withstand the Pelosi pressure that would be put on him not to support the fair tax. She is a powerful influence, even if she does lose her speaker position after November which I believe will happen. McHenry needs to go in 2012 if he doesn't support the fair tax. I have been holding fair tax meetings in Boone and recently had a panel that did a great job. We have been discussing doing it down in your district in September. I would love to work with your group in organizing it. Please call me at (828) 265-6767 to discuss. I would alos appreciate you joining me on my fairtax nation page so I can keep you informed of meetings planned. Rick Woods

If I can help in any way-besides monetarily-please call on me. This is an idea whose time has come! It would make everyone's life so much simpler-and that is why the powers that be will be fighting it tooth and nail!
