I believe the claim that it was ACORN and politicians demanding capital be lent to low income people is masking the real blame. The real force behind such tactics came from the people who previously owned those houses and wanted top dollar for thier…

Hi David! I'm Deidre's partner, Jenn. Thanks so much for setting up this group. Deidre and I had a hard crowd to work at the Columbus Pride event this past Saturday - but we spread the Fair Tax word and got a few people signed up to receive info and…

Deidre, In Tampa bay a couple years ago, we set up a booth at the St. Petersburg Pride event. We collected more than 800 petition signatures in a single day. The above logo is one that I designed to display on T-shirts specifically for that day. The…

I will be running a FairTax booth at the Columbus Ohio Pride event to explain how the FairTax actually achieves the LGBT community's goal of equal treatment with repect to federal taxes. As a matter of fact, the FairTax is blind to family type or si…

As a former Realtor, I can tell you that it is mostly perception. Just like most national organizations, NAR is filled with political types who want to maintain the power they have. The real impetus behind NAR fighting to keep the mortgage interest…

WE do not have the convio system in place everywhere... This is probably the best way to move forward today with this. The only way I know to get it done would be to go to AFFT and ask them to do it. I think going directly to Biden is the right wa…

Jabari, I've been saying the same thing for a couple years. I completely gave up on the "FairTaxGroups" board because it became completely partisan. I've had many ideas of ways we could reach the progressive side of the aisle and I always get shot d…

Introduction tto NCFairTaxers

Hello, NC FairTaxers,

I've just moved from one of the most crowded counties in the country to the one of the most beautiful parts of the country and I'm ready to lend my efforts to the NC team.

After leading the Tampa Bay FairTax Advocates as the DD for FL10 from the middle of '05 to the middle of '07, I resigned my FT post and my job to work full time to help Senator Mike Gravel (d) in his presidential campaign. Parts of the experience as his Florida State Director were very rewarding--especially watching the reactions of a room full of Democrats as he explained the FairTax. Parts were very frustrating--like talking to political editors of newspapers who thought the FairTax was a "Republican thing" and that there were only a woman and a black man competing for the Democratic nomination. I used to think the slight on the FairTax was deliberate, but now I am fairly certain many political editors have such tunnel vision toward what they already know that they don't see anything else (or new) as relevant.

But I digress . . .

When it became clear that Mike would win neither the Democratic nor the Libertarian nominations, I went back to my real life. I could not go back to the same job, so I tried becoming a Realtor. Lets just say my timing was bad.

Now I'm here in beautiful Bostic, NC on a 10.9 acre farm with an 85-year-old house that needs more work than I can hope to accomplish in a year. I haven't found a job here yet, but the amount I need to earn to survive is far reduced.

I see that the NC10 DD lives in Cherryville and I hope to meet Mr. Black some day soon. Are there any regular scheduled meetings in the district? Do you need another CC for the Rutherford County part of the district? Are there already some FairTaxers in this neck of the woods?

contacting Biden is a great idea, and I'm leaning towards the post card idea + pictures of the Boston Tea Party. Maybe post cards of the Boston Tea Party?!

David,
Things are looking better here in Florida. There's a Tea Party meeting tomorrow night to plan the Tea Parties in Tampa and Orlando. 42 have responded yes and over 30 maybe. I hope everyone shows up. Of course, I will wear my Fair Tax shirt and hat and carry information along. John Hendrix is back, too! After tax season I want to get District 12 rolling again. The Nov election and then tax season caused me to put meetings on the back burner. I've heard from several in my district and hope the Tea Parties generate more interest.
Good luck in your ventures in NC.
Pam

David we are so happy to have you with us in NC!! We are definitely rolling here and trying hard to catch up to SC and GA. We now have a leader in every district except NC-5. I am the DD in NC-11 and live in Asheville. There is always something going on. Right now we are planning a convoy ride with the Grassroots Freedom Ride leaders down to Columbia, SC on April 15th for a big FT Rally with Neal Boortz and Mike Huckabee along with Ken Hoagland beginning at 4:30 pm. Howard Black is a good FT leader so make sure you two are talking asap! I am happy to offer any insight or ideas that you may need. Our DD's and CC's try to meet physically at least once a year and monthly on phone conferences.

Hi David!

Welcome to FairTax Nation!

FairTax Nation a site designed and managed by FairTax volunteers to serve the needs of FairTax advocates by providing a place to share ideas, find resources and create new opportunities with the goal of passing the FairTax HR 25.

On Nation we are working on many projects. One is our 50 State Campaign. We want to link at least 1,000 active volunteers in each state to work together in a national effort to pass the FairTax. That would give us at least 50,000 active volunteers able to communicate, plan events, etc. I know some people want a FairTax rally in Washington D.C. This is how we build the organization to make this event and many others possible.

Please feel free to invite your FairTax friends to join us.

Thank you!

Welcome to NC. I'm up here in District 11 (Asheville) and we try to stay pretty active. We're working with national for using the Grass Roots Freedom Ride fund raising project. Bob Deaton in Cornelius is very active and I think sometimes frustrated FairTax supporter, however he is in the 9th district. John Pierce, the state director will know who's doing what in your district. If it's not much, we need you to pick up the ball and run with it!
