Precinct meeting well tonight. There were about 80 people in attendance, and I picked up 3 invitations to speak to other groups and clubs. Several folks stayed behind to get more details, especially since I had my time cut to 10 minutes. Thanks to Mike Pool of District 2, who supplied bumper stickers, and highlight cards for distribution. Folks went away happy and curious about wanting to know more.

I have posted another FairTax district meeting at the Durham County Library. My plan is to alternate between Cary and Durham for these meetings. It is scheduled for March 28 at 11 am.

I was at the Townhall meeting in Cary for a while... I stayed for Price's monolog, and the first 2-3 questions.

The meeting last night was strictly regarding Obama's stimulus package. The congressman's opening speech lasted about 15 minutes, and was a reprise of the Democratic platform about how well the stimulus package was going to do. After the first question that was critical of the stimulus package, it was obvious that he wasn't going to give answers that didn't call for chest waders and rose colored glasses.

Did anyone attend David Price's Townhall meeting in Cary last night?

Hello everyone,
I attended the TownHall meeting hosted by David Price last night. It was a packed house with standing room only. That is a good thing to see. I saw a few other FairTax supporters there as well. I must say, some of the questions asked by others in the room were well thought out and pertinent, and others, shall we say, were incredulous. I was sad to note that the moderator was blatently ignoring the FairTax group, she kept calling on folks all around us, but would not allow any FairTaxer to ask a question. I guess he does not want to be called out on a solution that does not involve spending $800 billion. Maybe next time, we go without FairTax hats and shirts, or have one or two Fairtax folks not wear our colors. I added this as a topic in the forum, what do you all think?

In response to Mike Ekhardt comment "Does anyone have a clear presentation of the Fair Tax prepared to show Price during the Town Hall?". Unfortunately, townhall meetings are not a place to give presentations, but more of an opportunity to show up and ask singular questions. Rep Price is very good about not answering with a comment that the townhall is not a debate setting, and he will not debate with you. Therefore, the idea is to present a good question, one that you can hope to gather either support for or against something with the others in attendance. The questions I would like to see from Fairtaxers are those that help the others in the meeting WANT to know more, and will seek us out afterwards. These folks, already politically inclined as they showed up to a townhall, are great candidates to help us with the FairTax.

It may be a good idea for all of us who are going to get together before things get underway to plan a strategy of questions to ask.

My plan at the TownHall is to use the current stimulus package to point out that we could have generated the same $800 Billion without casting anyone a penny.
