Dear Mr. Mathews:
Thank you for contacting me regarding your continued interest in the H.R. 25, the Fair Tax Act. I appreciate hearing from you on this important issue.
I believe it is necessary to gather information from a wide variety of sources before making a decision to support a legislative proposal. The supporters and opponents of H.R. 25 should be given a full hearing in the House Ways and Means Committee, which has jurisdiction over tax legislation.
In addition, these hearings would result in the bill being examined by the economists of the Joint Tax Committee to determine how much revenue the bill would raise. H.R. 25 has massive implications for our economy as it would shift revenue streams from an income tax to a sales tax. A series of comprehensive hearings regarding the impact of this legislation and a score by the Joint Tax Committee to determine how much revenue the bill generates would be extremely helpful in order to evaluate this legislation particularly during these economic times.
Thank you again for writing. Please continue to keep me informed regarding any other issue on which I can be of assistance. Additionally, I encourage you to visit my website

F. Allen Boyd, Jr.
