Fair Tax Nation

Replace All Federal Taxes on Income with the Fair Tax Act , HR 25

This was done in the UK back in the 90's when the 'Euro' debate was going on.
A group stuck pink stickers to the 1 pound coins saying 'Save the Pound' which then spread through currency circulation.

This was brought up on a Facebook FT group about stamping US currency with something relating to the FairTax.
Someone is already marking over 'Tim Geithner' with 'TAX CHEAT' on the bills.

Now according to US law it is illegal to deface or destroy currency with the attempt to make it unuseable, but there is nothing stated with regards to marking currency.

What do you think about using the free market to advertise the FairTax?
Everyone likes money and everyone uses it......plus the cost would be just the cost of the stamp and thats really it.

Thoughts?

I whole-heartily endorse this little but efficient way of passing on the Fair Tax message. Why have only one stamp with 2 lines? Let's brainstorm and come up with 3 or 4 or 5 messages but ALL ending with "FairTaxNation.com". Don't assume that everyone is computer savvy. Would it make a difference if we stamped in black ink or let's say red ink?
Depending on the cost I think the more messages the better here.
Black or red I think would stick out fine and FairTaxNation.com would get everyone coming to this location and learning more.

Mike $9 + shipping I think is great.
Would it be someone purchasing the stamps and then people purchasing them from that person or would we be able to purchase one at a time from the website?
If you buy them Mike I'd be happy to buy a stamp or two off you so you're not out of pocket and I think everyone would be the same way.
You'd just be the 'middle man' so to speak.
Kind of like the IRS just less evil and hated by all
If we can just buy them from the website though for the same price, no one is out of pocket for the duration.
There are many advertisments for a self inking three line return address stamps that sell for $4.95. This is as long as there is not logo needed. Three lines of text.
You might want to rethink this. After doing some net searching, I found this site:

http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/html/uscode18/usc_sec_18_00000475...

Seems to me that the Feds will consider this as advertising, not necessarily defacing currency. They made the "Where's George" site stop selling rubber stamps as they deemed it as advertising.

It's an interesting idea, but if it were legal, you would have seen lots of "Vote for John Doe" on bills a long time ago.
Ahhhhh that fed is always spoiling our fun!!!
Thanks for posting though, glad we found that out now rather than later!!
I'm not sure this changes anything. If I buy a FairTax rubber stamp, no agency is going to stop me from stamping my currency any more than they would stop me from writing my phone number on a $20 bill. It's legal as long as I don't "render [the currency] unfit to be reissued" according to the Bureau of Engraving website.

I can't imagine what agency would bother to investigate my rubber stamp. And even if they did, the publicity would be great. How much could the fine be? Who would investigate -- the FBI? They would become a laughing stock if they spent resources investigating stampers. They might as well investigate where Waldo is.

At the same time, I don't think it would be prudent for FairTaxNation (or any other organization) to sell rubber stamps and actively encourage people to stamp currency. That would be advertising and some agency would probably step in to stop it. I also don't think it would be a good idea to include a website address.

Now, on with the campaign. I like:

FairTax
Not Income Tax
I understand.

Use 'FairTax', but don't leave a web address for the fed to attack.
Publicity is great...but not if it leads to being shut down.

People can still search for the FairTax....and FTN is widely linked to on the other sites.
I love that idea - How will they trace: "Google "FairTax""?

AFFT comes up first... lots of info....

Seriously... All it takes is some non-specific language like that. UNTRACEABLE!
This is a good one, don't forget to add on your own personnal check, ususally space for one or two lines of free text.
I put it all over my check and tax return envelope when I sent it to the IRS :)
OK prices look like about $20-25 per stamp if you buy one at a time from the link Mike Miller gave me.
If we got 100 then it would be about $9 each but I personally don't have the capital to invest in anything right now....hence this cheap ad scheme in the first place.

I'm more than happy to pay $20 for a stamp and get stamp happy......thoughts from everyone else?
Another stamp option, no web address and only $10 shipped!!
