Since Congressman Bob Etheridge does not or will not answer questions about his lack of support of the FairTax bill I think we need to convince some reporter to question him live with some very direct questions about his stance on the FairTax bill.
I think we need more exposure via the news media about the FairTax bill.

Hey Marty G.,

I agree with you on the publicity need approach. I suggested a higher level approach to this via Mike P. . His concern is that the high level approach can generate a hefty fee from the reporter for his services. Good point. (What I suggested was asking Mike Huckabee, FOXNEWS Sat 8PM, since he supports FAIRTAX is for him to either do a story with NC-02 reps in the studio with him or he comes here to speak at a rally)
Another variation on that may be to ask him to interview/speak with Bob E. or get him into the studio with NC-02 there and discuss FAIRTAX. (I'm having problems with him on other issues (clean energy) so getting him to do other than what he wants is darn near impossible. Media pressure may wake him up to remembering that he serves us. We don't serve him. This country is a government of the people, by the people for the people and he needs to remember that.

Congressman Etheridge's web page does not list a schedule of events. If any of you become aware of events he plans to attend please share with the group so we can try and show up with our FairTax signs.

As our group grows please keep sending him letters, the more he hears from ALL of us the more likely he will start to listen.

I called Bob E.'s office, Phone: (202) 225-4531and they did not know what his stand on FairTax is. They will ask him. Other people need to contact him also. Since I never receive replies from his office I am not expecting one on this issue. Will we have to ask the home based (local) media to interview him on this issue if he won't respond?

Howdy,

I just called Bob E.'s office (2/5/09 1:40PM) and he hasn't bothered to look at the issue. (On a side note for those who are also Pickens' Plan people, the Energy plan which contains many parts of the Pickens plan, he also hasn't bothered to look at).
Since he is to "busy" and indifferent to us, what does it take to leverage him with a recall threat? Anyone know?

I think that it is great that you called, I will do the same. Maybe we could organize a phone call in from many members in one day asking about the FairTax to get his attention.

Great idea Mike! That will draw attention to the issue to whom ever answers the phone. Whether or not they actually go to the site and explain it to him or not is anyones guess! Good luck to us!.

I called Bob Etheridge and his staff said he has no opinion on the Fair Tax. Said I will receive a reply in the mail.

The Chatham County Board of Commissioners, the Chatham County Board of Education and Congressman Bob Etheridge have scheduled a meeting on Monday, February 23rd 2008. The meeting will be held at Northwood High School, 301 Northwood High School Road, Pittsboro NC, beginning at 10:00AM.

The purpose of this joint meeting of the Board of Commissioners, the Board of Education and Congressman Etheridge about the importance of supporting school construction.

The meeting is open to the public.

I've never received a response from this guy on anything I've ever sent him. As far as I can tell he completely ignores the residents of his own district. At least Dole, when she was in office, would respond. I think the only way we, as a group, can get a response is to apply non-stop, relentless pressure on him and his staff. Call, call, and call again.
