Fair Tax Nation

Replace All Federal Taxes on Income with the Fair Tax Act , HR 25

Here is a Wall Street Journal Article from March 26, 2009 "White House Leans Toward Tighter Enforcement of Taxes." I would like to thank Doug Hartlove, NJ-11, for spotting it and Bill Spillane, CA-SD, for getting the online version.

Note the fifth paragraph:
"A growing number of experts and many lawmakers believe the current U.S. income-tax system isn't raising enough money because it is obsolete. They say the U.S. should consider switching to more efficient means of raising revenue -- FOR EXAMPLE, TAXES ON CONSUMPTION." (Emphasis added.)

This development poses both an opportunity and a warning. The opportunity is that experts and lawmakers are leaning towards a consumption tax, for example, the Fair Tax. The warning is that we may end up with both a consumption tax and income taxes.

This is a time to write your lawmakers and say yes to the Fair Tax, but no to both.

Jackpot!!

I am very excited about this article - thank you Jim for bringing it to our attention.

In addition to your comments about the fifth paragraph I would encourage everyone to also pay close attention to the two paragraphs following it as well - keeping in mind that the key word in the fith paragraph is "switching"; also take take note of the use of the word "simplification" in the six paragraph. Finally, my jaw hit the floor as I read the final paragraph.

This article screams Fair Tax at the top of its lungs! I think we need to make sure Houston knows about it and files a proper response with the WSJ. I also think we need to make sure every member of Obama's task force sees this article along with our reply.

Thanks, John McKinnon, for writing the perfect article for the perfect storm that is brewing.
Oh me likey!!!

But yes the caution is them keeping the current and going to consumption also.
FairTax and FairTax only please!!!

But with wanting more money, the next step would be to reign in government spending....which would be easier under the FairTax :)
