It sounds like privacy issues are finally making the Fair Tax seem much more reasonable to Ben Stein. This is good news because he's a great communicator in the national spotlight.
This is "Ben" Stein -- who created the documentary, "Expelled - No Intelligence Allowed" about the case for creationism. I have the DVD and it is Awesome! He's the Jewish entrepreneur who appears on Fox Business Network on Sat. mornings.
I believe we need to capitalize on this. In GA, we've talked about finding a nationally known and respected individual to become an official spokesperson for FairTax. As 9th District Director, I even sent an email to Ben Stein encouraging him to learn more about FairTax. No response so far, but maybe now is the time to try again. The most effective spokesman (or spokeswoman) is someone who had doubts, read the books, studied the issue, and then became an enthusiastic supporter. Perhaps Ken Hoagland of AFFT, Marilyn Rickert and Jim Tomasik could jointly approach Mr. Stein?
On Saturday's Cavuto On Business program, Ben Stein was given a chance to discuss his commentary about opposing the income tax on privacy grounds. Rather than mentioning a national sales tax (note that Stein didn't use the term FairTax in his commentary), Stein said he'd rather pay a 50% marginal tax rate than have the risk of an audit at a lower rate.
It is possible that the Fox Business staff has a bias against FairTax and do not want it discussed on their programs. Please e-mail at cavuto@foxnews.com and encourage them to have a debate on FairTax.
