Fair Tax Nation

Replace All Federal Taxes on Income with the Fair Tax Act , HR 25

Thank you, Marilyn Rickert, for alerting Fair Tax supporters to this broadcast. Here is my letter to the McLaughlin Group sent to comments@mclaughlin.com.

Dear Sir,
I was puzzled by the comment of Clarence Page on December 27, 2008, during an airing of the McLaughlin Group, that he thinks the Fair Tax merits an award for the most stagnant idea. If Page's idea of a dynamic code is today's living breathing Leviathan, with over 20,000 pages (plus 47,000 pages of regulations and revenue rulings) which leaves the economy stagnant, I cannot argue with Page. However if one measures stagnation and dynamism of an idea by its effect on the economy instead of on the code itself, the Fair Tax is indeed dynamic. Economists agree that taxing consumption instead of income, as the Fair Tax does, reduces economic distortion.

I give Page my award for the most glib statement.

Jim B.,

Maybe with the advent of sites like this, the FairTax movement can solidify. When this happens and people become confident in the resolve to make this change, then maybe we can set the country back on a more productive path.

One more thing,

Everyone please go invite each FairTax supporter you know to join this site. The best way to prove this guy wrong is with shear numbers of supporters.

At least Clarence is consistent. December 2007 he posted an editorial that made the DDN. The following is my response sent to his email. By the way, no such courtesy from him.

“’FairTax’ sounds great-until you check it out” by Clarence Page
DDN 12/19/07

You’re right Clarence, the FairTax does sound great until you check it out. And if you would have taken the time to go further then a superficial pass of this simple and very logical approach to funding our economy you would have discovered it is more than great.

Not only is this the single most revolutionary idea for job creation this country has ever seen, it will also help to return control of our government to the individual at the expense of the thousands of business and tax lobbyists that surround our nations capital.

An additional bonus is the elimination of the IRS and their 11 BILLION dollar annual budget used to collect taxes. I’m sure you’ve heard more than a few horror stories about that process.

There are four groups of people that are fighting this revolutionary idea: the politicians who will lose the single most powerful weapon of control in their armory of weapons of mass taxation (WMT), the special interest group lobbyist whose livelihood depends on a cumbersome tax code, IRS whose jobs will be eliminated, and finally those that don’t understand this idea. Sadly Clarence, I feel you fall in this last category. If you want help understanding, www.FairTax.org is a good place to start.
