Fair Tax Nation

Replace All Federal Taxes on Income with the Fair Tax Act , HR 25

Here is the email that I sent to Mark West just now. When he replies, I'll post his response here.

Subject: July 4th Tea Party

Hey Mark, hope everything is going well with you. I've not heard anything lately about a Tea Party event in Chattanooga for the July 4th weekend and I was wondering if there is in fact an event scheduled? If so, what can we at SERFTC do to help?

We're more than willing to lend a helping hand and you can count on us to have a tent at the event and have someone speak if needed.

Please get back to me a.s.a.p. so that I can pass along the necessary info to the others in our group.

Ok......I'm in charge of scheduling and coordinating the speakers for the event. So, we'll have a spot on the program. I'm going to let the speakers choose either a 5, 10 or 15 minutes speaking slot. I feel that anything beyond that and we'll lose the crowd. At this point, the even is planned for two hours (12 Noon until 2pm). If we suddenly have more speakers than we can handle, I guess we could go a bit longer, but I feel that three hours would definitely be the MAX. It IS the 4th of July after all and the heat will be cranking up, the longer we're out there.

Larry, do you want to do the honors this time around for SERFTC? If so, say so.
I forgot to mention. This is NOT confirmed yet, but it's looking like we'll probably be holding the event in the same location as the April Tea Party, instead of the Aquarium Plaza. Darrell is going to try and find out about access to power, for the PA System. Also about trying to get a stage that we can use. Hopefully we'll have this nailed down before the weekend is over.
I've got a little 2000 watt honda generator. That's not a lot of power, but I've got it.
I'll let Darrell know, especially if he's unable to gain access to power. I think he's going to go down on Sunday and "survey" the site to see if he can find where we can gain access and then call the city on Monday to find out if we can have access to it for the two hours, etc. He hadn't even thought of this until I brought it up.

I didn't have the heart to mention that he might want to consider having EMT's on hand, in case someone gets heat stroke or something. You never know about stuff like that and I'm sure there would be a liberal lawyer, ready to pounce on something like that, if it were to happen.
Here's the schedule thus far. I'm working on getting some additional speakers. We've got the first hour taken care of, now we need 3-4 speakers to fill the 2nd hour.

Larry: You sure you don't want to speak this time? I've got no problem letting you do it, if you want to. If you are interested, just say so and I'll put you on the schedule instead of myself.

Here's an update on the Speaker situation. Only one real decline thus far, because of a previous commitment. I've got invites out to three others, should hear back today from everyone, except Zach Wamp. I won't know until tomorrow.

Premo - if you can't speak, I will, but I feel you are a more well rounded speaker, and I think it would be wise for people to connect to you and your radio show and all. That makes sense, doesn't it? I'll man the booth. I've printed enough petitions to sign up 600 people, which should keep us hopping. My wife is going to help in the booth too. - Larry
Ok, sounds good. I guess I need to get started working on a speech then. I've been busy at work and then trying to line-up speakers has taken a lot of time too, wasn't sure if I'd have the time to do it justice. I'll start with my last speech as the base and expand upon what I've already got I think. That should save some time.

Before I forget. The power issue is resolved. The city said there were electrical outlets on all the power and light poles there in front of Ross's Landing, so it looks as if the field where the last Tea Party was held will be the location of the event. I'm thinking that we should all try to get down there by 11:00am to help set-up the booth, the PA system, etc. That's probably more time than we need, but I'd rather be early than too late.

Also, besides the petitions, do we need any sort of "educational" handout to give everyone? If so, I don't mind getting them printed, if someone has something we can easily adapt to be able add our logo, website and email address, etc.
I'm bringing about 15 of those little business cards - as a fall back item - in case we have nothing else - or run out. I'll be there about 11 am to help set up. - LS
I'm bringing more of the tri-folds w/FairTaxNation.com and FairTaxChatt.com handwritten in red along w/a note to check FTC site for local meeting schedule. I will urge anyone taking a card to stop by the booth and sign FairTax petition but one of the questions I get asked most often when talking to folks about FairTax is if they sign up will they then start getting a lot emails urging action (or donations) for FairTax. I think I've been correct in saying that we're using the petitions as evidence of the breadth of local support for FairTax when talking with incumbents and candidates - but that's not to say that we would never use it for urgent issues such as the recent Cap and Trade vote.

Also, I'll start the day in LaFayette for their TEA Party and will leave there about 11:45 so don't expect to be in Chattanooga before 12:15 earliest. I will be happy to do whatever y'all still need to have done either then or anything that needs to be done in between events. Let me know if you need my cell no.
.
I am so impressed with your efforts! Ya'll keep up the great work.
Thanks Jim. Here's the latest update on the Speaker Schedule. I'm hoping to hear back from everyone today and get this thing finalized by the end of the day.
